March is Women's History Month
As we celebrate " Women's History Month , " enjoy stories, films, art and a teacher lesson plan designed to celebrate inspiring women.
March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
Developmental disabilities are a group of conditions due to an impairment in physical, learning, language, or behavior areas that onset before adulthood. Learn more about heroes who happen to have developmental disabilities and check out our Developmental disabilities lesson plan for your classroom.

Volunteers in Goa, India
Filmmaker Marc Ostrick is visiting four cities in India this month, sharing MY HERO resources with students as he helps them hone their storytelling skills.

“They are all activists,” says Ostrick. “My job is to turn them into filmmaker activists.”

The trip is funded by a grant from US Department of State - Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs and is a partnership between The MY HERO Project and Video Volunteers.

Call for Entries
Special Awards
Submissions are open for the 2019 Robert Shetterly Portrait Prize . Professional artists and students are welcome to submit portraits of their heroes. The cash prize is awarded by Robert Shetterly, artist and founder of Americans Who Tell the Truth. All accepted entries will be shared online through the MY HERO Gallery .
Established in 2017, the Eva Haller Women Transforming Media Award recognizes outstanding short work featuring women change makers and women's issues.

Submit your short film celebrating ocean heroes for consideration for the annual Sylvia Earle Ocean Conservation Award. This award comes with a cash prize donated by MacGillivray-Freeman Films' One World One Ocean campaign.
Submit your original song celebrating an unsung hero in the MY HERO and Guitars in the Classroom Song Contest . Prizes will be awarded for outstanding compositions as well as music videos.

In the summer of 1995, MY HERO was launched online with the goal of sharing hero stories from around the world. For our 25th Anniversary, we are asking our community to share photos, films, stories and any other relevant information about MY HERO's impact in your community.
