World Oceans Day Film Screening
On Sunday June 9 , MY HERO will host a screening of short films about heroes working to protect the world's oceans. The films represent the finalists of  The Sylvia Earle Ocean Conservation Award , which is presented each year at the MY HERO International Film Festival.

The Earle award, sponsored by  MacGillivray Freeman Films’ One World One Ocean  campaign, is named for world-renowned oceanographer and conservationist Dr. Sylvia Earle. The award honors filmmakers who shine a light on heroes working to protect the world’s oceans.

Marc Ostrich demonstrates camera technique
during a ChangeChitra production workshop.
MY HERO mentor Marc Ostrick returned to India, where he has been working with ChangeChitra, a yearlong program of documentary filmmaking for social activism.

Ostrick covered the filmmaking process — audio, lighting, camera movement and composition — as well as non-verbal storytelling to teach both the art and the craft of visual storytelling.    

“The ChangeChitra production workshops were an incredible experience,” he says.  “Being able to take the participants through a program design that was more like a boot camp allowed everyone to build upon the knowledge gained the previous day."

Ostrick hopes to return to India in mid-August to mentor students in post- production.
