Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) recently released results for 2020 performance in their Blueprint for Affordability (Blueprint) program. Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, all risk-bearing entities participating in Blueprint met 2020 quality targets!
The Physician Alliance (TPA) participates in Blueprint through Partners in Care, the managed care organization co-owned with Ascension Southeast Michigan. Some 2020 Blueprint overall performance highlights include:
For Medicare Advantage:
-
All risk-bearing entities averaged 4.5-star rating for quality.
-
All risk-bearing entities had a 5.0-star rating for both breast cancer screening, with an average screening rate of 87%, and colorectal cancer screening, with an average screening rate of 88%.
For commercial PPO:
-
All risk-bearing entities met quality threshold with an average quality performance of 77% and a range of 73-82%.
-
The risk-bearing network scored higher in quality than the plan average for breast cancer screening, cervical cancer screening, colorectal cancer screening, childhood immunizations combo 10, controlling blood pressure, diabetic eye exam, and diabetic A1C control.
In addition to the impressive scores, BCBSM recognized several innovative initiatives to improve quality and care, including “supporting process improvements around transitions of care to make sure that patients have appropriate follow up, leveraging telehealth as an opportunity for transition visits.”
Congratulations to the practices participating in Blueprint! Thank you for the continued commitment to providing high quality care to all patients.
