  3. Identify risk mitigating strategies to consider implementing in the office practice.
SPEAKER : Mary Ellen Filbey, RN, BSN, JD, CPHRM is a senior risk specialist at Coverys, where her experience includes consulting to mitigate risk and promote patient safety to hospitals of all sizes nationally, presenting and writing about high-risk-related topics, and providing risk management staffing. Her experience as a registered nurse includes medical and surgical nursing as well as obstetrical care.

Engaging patients in diabetes prevention 

Helping patients prevent diabetes is a critical opportunity to improving the health of the population served.

The Physician Alliance created patient education materials to help initiate conversations with patients. The " 6 tips for lowering your risk of diabetes" poster can be downloaded or copies ordered from TPA. Diabetes and healthy lifestyle self-management action forms are also available.
