Encourage patients to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is partnering with local police departments for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10am-2pm to safely destroy prescription drugs through convenient drop off locations.

Ongoing medication drop off is available in several locations. Click below to locate these: 
**For Wayne county residents, Wayne county will be participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 29. Residents can check with their local police department or visit to locate collection sites in their area.

Seminar shares best practices in care coordination

Best practices in care coordination 
Tuesday, May 23, 2017; 6-8pm

Learn how to improve care coordination in your practice! Get an overview of physician-led "peer to peer" best practices, and examples of quality and coordination of care. We'll explore information and evidence in coordinating care, and demonstrate coordination of care activities through case studies.

Presenter: Susan Mitchell, MD, MS is a board-certified family physician, medical educator, and consultant in cross-cultural medical care and communication. She holds a faculty research appointment at Boston University School of Medicine and adjunct teaching appointments at Tufts University School of Medicine. Her research interests are in the effects of patient-doctor communication on health disparities in patient safety, transitions of care and health care access.

New diabetes management patient poster available

The Physician Alliance created a new patient education poster focused on diabetes management. The "6 ways to manage your diabetes" poster offers tips for patients on managing and monitoring the disease. The poster can be downloaded from TPA's website.
