From the President, Amy McGahan

Welcome to this edition of The Press Club of Cleveland's Byliner. In this issue, we introduce you to our new board members and officers, who have already hit the ground running. Last month, we gathered for a retreat to address priorities for the organization and plan for 2019. The enthusiasm and ideas that flowed during the retreat were so energizing. I am excited to see what this year has in store.

Among other topics, we discussed programming ideas that we think would be of interest to the club and to those who care about journalism. While we came up with a number of ideas, we would love to hear from you. See below for more details from our programming committee.

Additionally, big thanks to the following board members who have stepped forward to lead committees:
Programming: Denise Polverine
Membership: Jason Brill
Sponsorship: Dave Johnson
Engagement: Kathleen Osborne

They could use your help! If you would be interested in serving on one of these committees, please contact us at   pressclubcle@gmail.com.

Thank you for your continued interest in and support of the Press Club of Cleveland. Be sure to connect with us on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram. Looking forward to an exciting year!

 Cleveland International Film Festival

The Press Club of Cleveland is a proud community partner with the Cleveland International Film Festival in presenting "Joseph Pulitzer: Voice of the People" at this year's festival.

Narrated by Adam Driver, the film documents how Pulitzer built his news empire and used it "to give voice to the voiceless and to empower the disenfranchised. With his passion for democratic ideals, Pulitzer fought for the free press and essentially created the news as we know it today."

The 85-minute film has three screenings: 5:45 p.m. on Friday, April 5; 11:10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6; and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 7.

Tickets cost $16 (less for members and seniors) and go on sale to the general public on March 15. Get an extra $1 off  by using the code "PRESS" when buying tickets for any screening of this film.
