Sandy Hook Jersey Shore Half Marathon a Success
On Sunday, October 1 close to 1,000 runners did what people do best at Sandy Hook, recreate! While a 13 mile race might not seem like recreation to everyone, these folks hit the ground running with the Shore Athletic Club and in support of the Sandy Hook Foundation. Pictured above is SHF board president Pete Izzo with his family, sporting a number of blue ribbons!
Prior to the race, on September 20 SHF partnered with Kessler Rehabilitation and the Shore Athletic Club to host a fun preview run launched from Spermaceti LifeSaving Station for any interested participants, with physical therapy technicians on hand to interact 1:1 with racers regarding running form and function.
Over 320 racers elected to donate a total of $3,445 upon registration for the race, and were greeted on race day by Sandy Hook Foundation staff and given an opportunity to purchase our newest merchandise styles and selections.
Thank you to all those who supported the Jersey Shore Half Marathon and the Sandy Hook Foundation.
