News from The Sharing Shelf
Westchester's Clothing Bank for Children
a program of Family Services of Westchester, collects new and gently used clothing for infants, youth and teens then distributes that clothing to local children in need at no cost. The children we serve receive a week's worth of seasonally appropriate clothing matched to their sizing needs.
Spring Teen Boutique - Thank you!
The Sharing Shelf hosted its semi-annual Teen Boutique on Saturday, May 4th in partnership with the Junior League of Central Westchester and the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle. Throughout the day, there was a steady in-flow of volunteers and teen girls, and an outflow of clothing and smiling faces. One teen left with a dress for her Quinceanera while another, headed to Binghamton this fall, found a Bing T-shirt in her size, new with tags.

More than 200 girls attended Teen Boutique, taking home more than 5,500 items. We provided clothing to an additional 150 girls who will attend The Summer Camp for Girls, gave dozens of prom dresses to the Jewish Board's Mann Center and filled over 40 bags for Neighbor to Neighbor. Each received a bag of new toiletries and cosmetics. The girls were registered to attend by more than 35 schools, nonprofits, community groups and hospitals in the County.

A special thanks to our generous donors including Delivering Good, the Undies Project, St. Pius X, Scarsdale Synagogue, Temple Israel of New Rochelle, multiple Lion's Hearts clubs and Girl Scouts, Estee Lauder, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's.

We are incredibly grateful to our organizing committee and community partners - the Junior League of Central Westchester and the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle for their support. Teen Boutique succeeds because we have a dedicated team working together.

Backpacks to School
Help Us Reach Our Goal!

Each summer, The Sharing Shelf organizes its Backpacks to School initiative to buy new backpacks and fill them with grade-appropriate school supplies for low-income children in Westchester County. Since 2011, The Sharing Shelf has provided 7,000 backpacks to children in over 40 school districts countywide. The program has grown to become the primary source of backpacks for children receiving services from Westchester County’s Department of Social Services.

Your donation today gets us one step closer!

Our backpacks are filled with grade-appropriate supplies for children from kindergarten through high school. Local teachers helped shape our supply lists and each bag contains the core requirements a student needs for each of her or his subject matter classes.

The Sharing Shelf plans to fill at least 1,250 backpacks and seeks to raise $35,000 for this project.

Engage your business as a sponsor of this initiative, including volunteer events for your employees in August. For more information, click here to see our sponsorship opportunities .

Give Us Your Feedback!
The Sharing Shelf wants to hear from you. We are always striving to improve and want to hear from anyone who has volunteered in our warehouse or at one of our programs. Help us learn how we can improve by filling out this short survey. It's completely anonymous and tremendously beneficial. Thank you in advance for your time!
CONSIGN'D FOR A CAUSE
We actively collect your gently used bridge and designer adult clothing. We are looking for brands from AG, Theory, Vince and Joie through Alice + Olivia, DVF, Ermenegildo Zegna, Prada and Jimmy Choo.

We partner with a local consigner who will donate proceeds back to The Sharing Shelf. These donations help pay our rent and make sure that we can continue clothing local children in need. We donate items that we cannot use to local nonprofits serving low income men and women. Please make sure your donations are in clean, wearable condition with no rips, stains or tears.

Please bring in your donations separately bagged and labeled
"Consign'd for a Cause."
