Holiday Greetings to each of you. I trust that you have all enjoyed a wonderful time with church, family and friends. We thank God for His blessings in 2012 and for bringing us through every challenge and the experiences that this last year has brought.

As we face the dawning of a new year the potential and possibilities of God's will and plan stretch onward before us. Let us embrace it with great faith for what He will do for us in 2013.

The British Columbia District has great things in store, I believe, for 2013. The possibilities and potential is unlimited. I believe that at this time next year we will have seen great growth and revival in our churches. What souls will be added. What victories won. What a move of God could happen in this year. I believe God wants to move among us in an unprecedented way! The words of the Lord to Zerubbabel (Zec. 4:6) ring so true to us in this day, "It is not by might nor by power but by my Spirit saith the Lord." Of all the things that we most desperately need for this new year is a move of the Spirit of God! Anything and everything is a possibility when God's Spirit is involved.

Our General Superintendent has asked us to join him in making January a month of prayer and fasting. Here is an excerpt from his news letter:

Thirty Days of Prayer

Let's enter the new year with special prayer. The World Network of Prayer has developed a prayer guide for January 1-30, 2013, available at 30 Days of Prayer 2013. The first seven days also include an emphasis on fasting. When Apostolic people unite in the name of Jesus, our prayer is powerful and productive. I urge every pastor, saint, and church to link together for thirty days of focused prayer.

I urge each of you to implement this in your churches. We are also asking that the last two full weeks in January will be used as a special focus in our District to be covered by our sections.

January 14-20   Section One and Three

January 21-27   Section Two and Four

Your sectional presbyter will be contacting each pastor to request your church covering certain dates within these two weeks. We are seeking God for a mighty sweeping move of His Spirit in British Columbia and the NW Territories!

Below we have several dates and events that you will want to take note of. In our various District events we have several guest speakers that are going to be a blessing and help to us in 2013. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with these dates. Also provided for you is a tag line for District dates file for you to download.

Bro. Woodward, our Canadian Regional Presbyter, has sent each of you a Christmas letter which you should have had before Christmas. Due to illnesses running through our family and church we were unable to get this out to you in a timely fashion.

We have almost come to the end of the year. We ask where did 2012 go? The end of the year brings gift giving time to Pastors and staff. The CRA have some simple rules about the taxation on gifts to employees. An employee is allowed 2 gifts a year totalling $1,000.00 and no gift can exceed $500.00. So if a gift is given of $500.00 for birthday and Christmas then all is ok, however, if one gift is $200.00 and the other $800.00 then there is a taxable benefit of $300.00 on the second gift. A tax free gift is a gift that is NOT cash or near cash. Cash is self-explanatory. Now, near cash is anything like gift cards and gift certificates, in other words anything that can be used to purchase items with. The gift that is not taxable is the gift of any physical item such as a radio, clothes, etc. These items if under $500.00 including all taxes are not taxable or reportable to the CRA. Another way to give staff gifts is a card shower. If the people of the church get a card and place money, gift card, etc. in it that is not taxable as the money does not run through the church. Whichever method is chosen please be careful of the tax rules.

From Sister Foster, I and the staff at the District Office, we would like to wish everyone a great Christmas and a blessed New Year.

Hello Campers,

Camp Meeting - It has been a few months since camp meeting when we enjoyed the presence of God and fellowship together. This gathering is always such a highlight and the fellowship together is always a great part of coming together as well as the great services. I was reminded of this as I watched the minister's fellowshipping in the hall, the young people hanging around Cherise's Court, the children by the playground, the lot holders visiting neighboring lots, and especially watching the crew complete the siding on the dorms. Lots of work was done with lots of laughs.

Special Offering - Thanks to all those that made pledges for the complete renovations of the bathrooms our pledge amount was just over $40,000 and some of this has come trickling in since then. This is a little less that we need for this project but we are hoping to save material and labour costs with God's help and with your help. Please make plans to have your pledged amount submitted to Bro Foster by designating a cheque to 2012 Special Camp Offering and then send it directly to his office or submit it through your local church by designating the offering on one of your church envelopes. These pledges are due as soon as possible, the deadline being Dec 31, 2012.

Bathroom Project -The planning around the new bathrooms is underway with a completion target of May 2013 with the work taking place in the months of April-May 2013 before the rental season is underway. Our Building Committee Director, Pastor Ron Ens has already began speaking to various individuals so that we can have specialists in place to complete portions of the project, like roofing, framing, wall finishing, plumbing, concrete, tiling and landscaping. If you are able to help with these areas or lend a hand, please let me know and we will include you in the planning. It will be great to have these done and celebrate this during camp meeting next year.

Rental Income - As the fall season arrives and the rain begins to descend it marks the end of the busy rental season. The 2012 rental season has been one of our best yet with our revenues jumping nearly $10,000 to close to $24,000. Thank the Lord for this growth - it is coming at the right time. As we grow and collect outstanding monies, we are seeing our financial picture improve but more work needs to be done. We have some income generation projects underway which will be shared in future newsletters.

Project Help - Following the falling of the trees around the camp, there remains some significant clean up that needs to be done. As well, we will be able to burn once the wet weather dampens the ground and foliage. We are planning on having work crews on the grounds sometime in Jan.-Feb depending on the weather. We will need lots of help to haul brush, cut up limbs, chop and pile firewood and with chipping and burning. We will be contacting the area pastors to notify you of the precise dates. When the dates are announced please try to free yourself up for these work days and contact me so we can plan for your coming and let you know further details.

Thank you to all for your faithful support of your camp, Dogwood Valley Camp and its properties. God has blessed us with this great treasure and your support and continued stewardship is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Russell Garrett
