Music News

The UUCH choir will close the 2025-2026 year with the anthem "Love Is Love." With the line “Label free, universally, love is love,” this song underlines and punctuates our Pride Sunday message. Listen for the phrase “love is love” in several foreign languages!

Choir is on break for July and August. Contact Lori at music.director@uuch.org if you’d like to sing or play in church during those two months.

Fun in the Sun Next Sunday

Stay tuned for more info on a more casual Sunday and July First-of-the-Month Potluck, including a water balloon fight in the UUCH Playground (please no weapon-shaped water sprayers). Popsicles will be provided!

Putting the FUN in Funeral Planning

End-of-life planning is an important way to help your loved ones honor your wishes after you have died. Part of that planning includes expressing your preferences and hopes for your Memorial Service. Join Rev. Jaimie for this special lunch and conversation. Anyone who considers themself a senior or an elder in the congregation is welcome to join. We will gather in Fellowship Hall at 11:30AM on Wednesday, July 15th. Rev. Jaimie will provide a homemade soup and salad lunch for all to share. After we eat, you will have the opportunity to think about your memorial service and write down your hopes and ideas. Rev. Jaimie will keep these details on file to make a difficult time easier and less stressful for your family in the future. A representative from the UUCH Endowment Committee will also be there to share ways you can incorporate UUCH in other aspects of your estate planning.

The Purge is Coming!

One of the UUCH Board goals this year was to “make the best use of our church resources,” including our physical space. To that end, a small team of UUCH leaders with support from the Board and Council are working on a massive clean-out and organizing project for this August that will help our spaces (both the public spaces we use regularly, and the storage spaces we use less often) be more functional and attractive. Guided by our commitment to environmentalism and a need to free up some space, we will be donating, selling, recycling, and sometimes throwing away the items that have accumulated in our building that are no longer useful for our congregation.

We are still in the early stages, but if you are someone who enjoys organizing and is interested in helping out with the Purge, reach out to Rev. Jaimie at minister@uuch.org. If you have left something at church or lent it to the church on a long-term basis, this is your reminder to come and get it, or check in about whether it’s still being used. Any items that have not been retrieved or communicated about by July 15, 2026 will be considered the church’s property and subject to the Purge!

Children and Youth Religious Education (CYRE) News

This week the UUCH children will join us for our multi-gen Pride service. Worship fun-packs with coloring pages and fidgets will be available in the foyer and there will be a small craft project available in the back of the sanctuary for anyone who needs something to do with their hands. The nursery will be open as usual for children 3 and under.

Nursery Care

Nursery care is available during the service from 10:30AM–12:15PM.

Little ones can be signed in and out upon arrival and departure in the RE wing.

Summary of the 2026 UUCH Annual Congregational Meeting

Summary of 2026 UUCH annual congregational meeting: The UUCH Congregation met for its annual meeting on Sunday, June 21, 2026.Fifty-nine people attended in person or online, establishing a quorum above the 20% threshold required. Board reports were delivered by the President (Laurel Bollinger), Minister (Rev. Jaimie Simon), Treasurer (Khoe Tran), Finance Committee (Carol Youkey), Acting Endowment Committee (David Patten), and Growth Through Service (Nancy Finley).

Following the reports, the Congregation voted to approve the 2026-2027 Budget and accepted the proposed leadership slate, including Board Members, Nominating Committee, and Endowment Committee. Details available upon request.

You are warmly invited into a journey of weekly contemplative gatherings hosted by Contemplative Interbeing and UUCH Member, Robert Ferrell. We will explore Revolutionary Belovedness, a shared path of spiritual formation rooted in contemplation, courage, and care for the common good. Our time together will offer space to slow down, deepen perception, and practice a way of seeing shaped by humility, solidarity, and love in action.

In each session, we will draw from the ten practices of Revolutionary Love from Valarie Kaur, the nine elements of a universal spirituality from Wayne Teasdale, and the core principles of the Center for Action and Contemplation, founded by Richard Rohr. Together, these gatherings invite reflection, guided inquiry, and practice in becoming a healing presence in the world. We meet each Sunday at 6:00PM via livestream. All are welcome.

Robert is also pleased to announce the publication of his new book, The Sermons of a Showgirl, available in paperback, hardcover, and Kindle editions.

Save the Date: August 22nd Service Project at Manna House

Your Social Justice Committee is leading a community outreach project with Manna House to serve lunch to people in need on Saturday, August 22nd. We will gather at 10 am to distribute food and then serve lunch from 11:00AM to 1:00PM.

We will need many helpers to make this a success! In addition to serving food, we’ll need many donations of food in order to feed 150 people. Please consider signing up for one or more tasks via the Sign-up Genius link here.

Little Food Pantry

Many of our neighbors and many unhoused people visit our LFP frequently. Consider buying a few extra cans of soup or veggies to contribute! For suggestions of what to donate (and what not to donate), check out this list: Pantry Food Items. Remember, many families don’t have the experience or the equipment to handle dried beans (dry lentils in particular tend not to be taken), and the unhoused particularly benefit from cans that don’t require can openers. See the link above for fridge options! A little help from us can go a long way. Please, if you can fill up the pantry or fridge, note your name in the SignUpGenius so we can maximize efficiency while still feeding people. Also, you can bring non-perishables to church; there are baskets available. A big thank you to all who contribute!
