"Opening to Joy"
Rev. Jaimie
10:45 AM, Sunday Dec 12
Online and in person in our Sanctuary for the first time in 20 months, we are re-Opening to Joy! In this season that constantly tries to sell us extravagent commercialized joy, let's regather in the spirit of simple joys we cannot buy: those that sustain us all year long.

Coffee for Sunday Morning Services
We are pleased to announce that starting at our in-person service on Sunday, December 12, we will offer coffee (and hot water for tea or hot chocolate) for the social time after Sunday services. Since everyone will still be masked indoors, we will ask that you take your coffee outside to drink it.

Your New UUCH Name Tag!
As part of resuming in-person services, new individual name tags for members, active friends, and children and youth have been prepared and are ready for use. They hang in alphabetical order in the UUCH foyer.
Please wear your new name tag at all services and events because it:
- Makes it easier for people to identify you since you’ll be wearing a mask
-
Makes it easier for Rev. Jaimie to get to know each of us
- Makes it easier for long-time members and friends to become re-acquainted with each other
- Makes it easier for newer members and friends to get to know others
The UUCH name tags have been redesigned as follows:
- The top of the tag is designed with space in the upper right corner for individuals to add a pronoun sticker if they wish. Pre-printed pronoun stickers are available on the name tag table in the foyer as follows: they/them, she/her, he/him, xe/xen, ze/zir, and a customizable sticker labeled “My pronouns are”.
- Children and youth name tags hang on a separate board from the adults, and each has a small smiley face sticker to differentiate them from adult name tags.
- Visitor name tags have a “My pronouns are” line that can be completed by the visitor if desired.
If you don’t find a name tag on hand for you, please add your name to the request form on the clipboard on the name tag table, and one will be made for you within a week or two.
If you have an old name tag at home, please return it to the basket on the name tag table so the holders can be recycled.
Wearing name tags is a simple thing each of us can do as a courtesy for others. And choosing to add a pronoun sticker to your name tag helps emphasize that UUCH members and friends are welcoming and inclusive of everyone.

UUCH Christmas Day Walk at Tinsel Trail
In keeping with the tradition from last year, we are meeting up for a Holiday stroll through the Tinsel Trail downtown on Christmas Day. We will meet at the main entrance on Church St. at 2:30 p.m. and walk around the trees. Masks are recommended. This will be a fun and safe way to get outside and be with other people. Please sign up at the following link:

You can email Sarah Rody at sarah.rody@live.com or Steve Rittenberg at srittenberg@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Recycling
Please note that UUCH uses a recycling service called RANA (Recycling Alliance of North Alabama). Recycling materials must be placed in the blue RANA bin and must be acceptable by the RANA company as listed on the lid of the bin. Please do not put anything other than the approved recycling in the bin. Please do not leave recycling materials in the kitchen. Recycling is strongly encouraged but will not work if we don't do it correctly. Thank you for your help.

Little Food Pantry
The LFP needs your help. Please sign up on the signup genius. For newcomers to buying food for it, here are some suggestions:
Proteins: canned tuna, Vienna sausages, ham, mac & cheese, pintos, beanie weenies, spaghetti & meatballs, pb & j.
Other: canned veggies, pasta, cereal, grits, soups, pancake mix, bananas, onions, potatoes, cabbage, apples.
Use your imagination! And a HUGE thank you to all of you who’ve filled it month after month. The need is there.

Donating by Text or Online
Our e-giving partner, Vanco is migrating to a new mobile app: “Vanco Mobile.” After September 30, giving with the GivePlus+ app will no longer be supported. To continue giving with a mobile app, download the Vanco Mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play to your mobile device and follow the instructions here. If you have already set up a login for GivePlus+, it will work on Vanco Mobile.

|
By Text:
To give a plate offering to UUCH from your mobile device, text the amount (without dollar sign) to 833-559-0257, and follow the instructions. Text giving is by debit or credit card only.
|
|
|
|
Online:
Like our other online and mobile giving options, this option is through Vanco, is secure, and has a good option for "plate" donations as well as "pledge" and "AHA".

Care List
This Sunday at Our Circle of Candles:
Paul De Moor lit a candle of Bittersweet joy: "Dec. 5 is the birthday of my mother who passed away last December. I love her and miss her."
Trao (he/they) lit a candle of joy: for having met up with a number of friends I haven't seen in many years the past couple of days!
Nick Wilbourn (he/him) lit a candle of joy: for our fabulous Worship and Technology teams, as well as everyone else who has worked hard behind the scenes to get our church ready for hybrid and in-person worship. Thank you all.
Daniel McKitrick lit a candle of joy: "was fun seeing friends in Fellowship Hall assembling fruit and veggie bags for AHA, and stuffing envelopes for Finance, on Friday."
