"Journeying with Intention"
10:45 AM, Sunday, Jan 30
In this special worship service members of our congregation Jessica Schulz and Shalin Mody, and our Music Minister Demi VanderWerff, will co-lead a service of poetry, prayer, movement, and song. They will lead us as we journey through the spectrum of human experience from darkness into light. Together we will embark with intention on this spiritual journey!

Extension of Virtual Services
Through February
UUCH Board voted to extend the suspension of in-person worship through the rest of February.
After a discussion of the current COVID caseloads in our community, hospitalizations, and illnesses in our congregation, the Board expressed concerns for the safety of staff and volunteers, our children and vulnerable members, and our responsibility to our wider community. As we have been doing for the past few weeks the worship, technology, and music teams will come to church and live stream the service to the congregation, who will remain at home and join virtually.
This continues to be a policy only for worship services. Small group activities like choir rehearsal, soul circles and fellowship dinners, may continue in-person with the consent of all participants.
Since much of the scientific evidence is indicating that this Omicron surge may spike and pass more quickly than other surges, we are hopeful that this will be a short continuation of virtual-only services, and we will be together again soon.
In the meantime, the Board commends the worship leaders, the technology teams, Rev. Jaimie and the staff for providing meaningful and beautiful services through live-streaming.
We remain a vital and loving community, and the Board thanks everyone for their continued participation and support of our church family.

Welcome Newest UUCH Members!
During the January 23rd worship service, UUCH welcomed Cubby Lash and Zena Tucker as our newest members. Cubby and Zena are both long-time UUs from other states.
|
Cubby is an engineer who moved to Huntsville from Arizona in 2021 with her wife, Adrienne.
|
Zena is a meteorologist on the Arsenal who moved to Huntsville from Florida in 2020 with her husband, Rick.
We appreciate the commitment both of these new members have already made to our church community with their gifts of time, financial support, and talents. We look forward to working together to fulfill the mission of this church.
The UUCH covenant that members make with each other is as follows:
We, as members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Huntsville, covenant to work together to create a supportive, affirming, sustaining community that inspires and challenges each of us to become our best selves. To further our goal of creating such an intentional community, we promise each other to:
• Affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every member of our community, valuing our differences and supporting each other in a free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
• Listen to one another with the intent of understanding, and speak to one another with respect and kindness, so that all may be heard;
• Recognize that forming an intentional community may at times require us to place the needs of the community above our own needs;
• Foster caring relationships by assuming the best intent in others, disagreeing in love, and empowering one another to speak for ourselves;
• Affirm the work of the church to the best of our abilities, valuing the work of others, and supporting those who voluntarily accept leadership roles in the church;
• Promote an environment where all people feel safe, both physically and emotionally;
• Use the energy and support we thus create to bring our vision of justice, equity, and compassion in human relations into our wider community, our nation, and our world.

Virtual Service Auction
Donations Needed!
Our second ever Virtual Service Auction opens for bidding on Sunday, February 13, so we need your donations now!
Unlike last year's virtual auction, the current UUCH COVID-19 policy for meeting indoors allows "up to 15 people, unmasked with group consensus," giving you more options to plan a game night, themed dinner parties, or arts & craft event.
Your contribution is only limited by your imagination.
For more information, please email stewardship.committee@uuch.org for committee members Lynda Lamitie, Ed Bernstein, Bryan Walls, or chair Dan McKitrick to ask questions on how to submit your donation(s) at charityauction.bid/uuch. You can also message Dan at (256) 426-6906
