UUCH has been offered a discounted tickets to attend one of the upcoming Broadway Theater League Production performances of Jesus Christ Superstar. Performances are 3/15, 3/16 matinee, 3/16 evening, 3/17 matinee, and 3/17 evening. See flyer for more info.

Social Justice Project and Ongoing Discussions
Book Discussion Group Offerings
NOTE: Both books currently are available in our church library.
Adult RE is offering a discussion group based on the book Life Worth Living: A Guide to What Matters Most by Volf, Croasmun, and McAnnally-Linz (lifeworthlivingbook.com). This book is based on a popular course the authors teach at Yale University, which students often describe as “life-changing.” The book guides the reader through a process of understanding and expressing more clearly what matters most in their life, and how they might live more consistently with that in mind. Sign-ups will be available at the Adult RE table after the service, along with more information. The group’s first meeting will be after coffee hour on April 14th, at which time we will decide upon our regular meeting time (probably Sundays mid-afternoons). Questions can be directed to adultre@uuch.org, or see Teri Thomas or Tim Miller (group facilitator) during coffee hour.
Join Adult Religious Education this year in our social justice project. We will be reading Poverty, by America written by Matthew Desmond. A time this fall will be set for a group discussion. The challenge, should you choose to accept, is to email me your commitment to read the book and be prepared to share one action you will do AND/OR one insight from what you’ve learned.
A copy has been ordered for the church.

You Are Invited to a Cottage Meeting in March!
The UUCH 2024 Annual Budget Drive is underway and we hope you will participate! As of 03/05/2024, together we have started strong with over $85,000 in pledges thus far!
As part of our drive, PLEASE make plans now to attend one of the many Cottage Meetings scheduled this month. These small gatherings are hosted by your friends from UUCH and offer delicious food, sharing and connection. Our gracious hosts can answer your questions and will offer an opportunity to fill in your pledge form for the church year that begins on July 1st. Pledges of financial support provide a basis for all the great things UUCH can accomplish.
There are many Cottage Meetings to choose from – one to fit your convenience. Sign up at Cottage Dinner Sign-Up or via hardcopy in the Fellowship Hall as soon as possible to give our hosts time to prepare!
Whether you are brand new to UUCH or a long-time member, Cottage Meetings are for everyone! Several are designated as child-friendly so the whole family can attend. Efforts will be made to accommodate dietary restrictions so that everyone feels welcome.

You and your family are invited to spend Easter Sunday afternoon with your fellow UUs in a day of relaxation and fun while welcoming the beginning of spring. Rain or Shine!

What does it mean to be a Unitarian Universalist? Guided by the Tapestry of Faith Curriculum, we will offer a three-part series that explores important themes in UU congregational life – our worship and theology, history, covenant and polity, faith development, social justice, and membership. This program is particularly focused on introducing newcomers to Unitarian Universalism, but those of us who have been here for a while will also be able to share and connect with others as we explore our own beliefs and how they intersect with the UU tradition. Everyone is welcome!
Mark your calendars now for the Sunday mornings of April 7, 14, 21 for this chance to learn and share. Meet for coffee or tea at 9:00 a.m. in the Adult RE classroom; discussion starts at 9:15. Nancy Finley and Sandy Moore will facilitate the discussion. Child care will be provided.

UUCH Board Report February 28, 2024
The UUCH Board met on February 28, 2024 to conduct its regularly scheduled meeting.
The Board approved the spending of funds to obtain software to initiate the Growth Through Service Program which will provide an energizing model for leadership and volunteering. The Board also approved $500 for Safety Committee needs for use through June, 2024. The list of budget goals for the 2024-25 Annual Budget Drive was discussed and approved.
Rev. Jamie presented the proposed draft of Mission and Vision statements from the Mission Vision Team. This proposal will be presented to the congregation at town hall meetings for discussion and the final version will be voted upon at the Annual Meeting. The date for the 2024 Annual Meeting was set for June 24, 2024.
The Treasurer reported that we are 58% through the year and doing extremely well. Expenses are at 57% of budgeted amount and income is at 74%.
The permit has been issued for the repair of the beams and we are now just waiting for work to begin.
The next business meeting of the Board will be held on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024.

Circle of Candles
Fran Alexander lit a candle of both Joy and Sorrow: "I have been a member of this church for 43 years. The first day I walked into the UUCH on the mountain, I was met with open arms and open hearts. It was where I met Marty and married, and after his death, his memorial service was held. So many memories, inspiring services, musicals, chili cook offs, and more. Our daughter, Michelle, attended RE for many years; our grandson "Sweet Baby James," was dedicate d in this building. It is with sad and happy feelings that I tell you I will be moving at the end of March to Daphne, AL to be closer to family. Thank you for your love and friendship and I will forever keep you all in my heart <3."

Little Food Pantry
Signups for the LFP have slowed to a trickle unless you are filling it without signing up in the signup genius. It’s hard to know. Our LFP is a much needed service to the neighborhood. Fill it with nutritious foods. Folks rarely take garbanzo beans or lentils (even though they are nutritious). Let’s try to keep the pantry going! Please, if you are able to fill it up, please note your name in the Genius. Also, you can bring non perishables to church, as there are baskets. A big thank you to all who do contribute!
