UUCH T-Shirts!
New UUCH t-shirts have been designed by our own Diane Walls! Using the UUA logo and slogan “Side with Love,” the shirts will be in our signature yellow and printed on both sides. T-shirts will be available in both adult and youth sizes.
You may order your t-shirt/s in the Fellowship Hall after Church services beginning this Sunday, May 11th, and running each Sunday thereafter through Sunday, June 1st. Payment by cash or check for your shirt/s should be made at the time of ordering. You may also pay online for your shirt/s and/or donate to the t-shirt fund by using the Donate link on the UUCH.org website or the QR code on the Sunday Order of Service. When making your payment, select “T-Shirt Purchase” to pay for shirts (not tax deductible) and/or “T-Shirt Donation” to donate to the t-shirt fund (tax deductible.).
The cost of these t-shirts will be the actual cost to the Church (this is not a fundraiser). Additionally, payment will be on a “pay what you can” basis: You may pay the amount you can afford to pay, you may pay full price, or you may include a bit extra as a donation to help cover costs for other members who cannot afford full-price. Any extra funds will be used to purchase additional t-shirts to have on hand for new members or for folks who need new shirts in the future.
The new t-shirts are expected to arrive sometime around the middle of July.
Additionally, there will be a “UU T-Shirt Swap”! If you have old UU t-shirts at home that you no longer wear, bring them to the UU T-Shirt Swap to donate for folks who may be able to use them. The UU T-Shirt Swap table will be set up all through the month of May as well. Donations of UU t-shirts of varying designs and colors and of both adult and youth sizes will be appreciated.
If you would like further information, or have questions, contact Cam Scales at 256-783-9485 or camrme@aol.com.

Grief Group Date Change
The UUCH Grief Group met again on the first Monday evening of May. We worked through a checklist of “how are you taking care of yourself” questions. We had some good discussions and shared strategies for self-care. We discussed balancing staying busy enough to save our sanity and not being so busy that we are filling the time needed to grieve. We unanimously agreed that moving our meeting to the first Wednesday evening of the month worked better. Going forward, the UUCH grief group, which is open to the public, will meet 6:00-7:30pm on the first Wednesday of the month.

Circle of Candles
The UUCH Congregation lit a candle of Sorrow: "Eunice Benton, Former Mid South UU District Executive and long-time friend of our Huntsville congregation, lost her husband, William "Bill" Benton. Alice and Betsy are in North Carolina to attend the memorial service and represent our congregation. Cards can be sent to Eunice at 901 Shuman St W, Winston-Salem, NC 27101."
A candle of Sorrow was lit: "Please keep Janet Varner in your thoughts and prayers as she recovers from surgery and deals with some follow-up health issues."
Cheri Smith lit a candle of Joy: "I am happy to be back with my UUCH Church Family. Since I can no longer drive, I will need rides to get to church. If you live in the Northeast section of town, and would be willing to help me with rides, please let me know."
Deborah Delacey lit a candle of Joy: "Thank you to this community for helping me both financially and in person to make my book fair a success."
Benjamin Delacey lit a candle of Joy: "I am joyful for my 18th birthday."
John Jeter lit a candle of Joy: "This past week John's brother, Marvin celebrated his 87th birthday. John celebrated his 85th birthday this past Sunday."
The Delaceys lit a candle of Joy: "Benjamin turned 18 on Monday. We celebrated with him on Saturday and Monday."
Jaylee Kordoksy lit a candle of Joy: "I finished my final assignment for my Master's in Social Work (MSW) and will graduate May 16/17 at UTK with a 4.0. I am excited to be an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist in our area soon."

Little Food Pantry
Many of our neighbors and many unhoused people visit our LFP frequently. Consider buying a few extra cans of soup or veggies to contribute! For suggestions of what to donate (and what not to donate), check out this list: Pantry Food Items. Remember that many families don’t have the experience or the equipment to handle dried beans, and that the unhoused particularly benefit from cans that don’t require can openers. A little help from us can go a long way Please, if you are able to fill it up, note your name in the Sign-Up Genius. Also, you can bring non- perishables to church, as there are baskets. A big thank you to all who do contribute!
