Dear UUCH Community,
Following a (regrettably successful) phishing attack on our office, the UUCH directory was emailed to someone representing themselves as the Board president. This person has used the information to reach out to our membership, pretending to be Rev. Jaimie asking for "help with something important" and/or asking to purchase gift cards.
Please understand neither Rev. Jaimie nor Rev. Ruth will ever reach out via email or text requesting gift cards or money, nor will any member of the UUCH Board or leadership. Please ignore, report as spam, block the number, and delete these text messages.
We are putting processes in place to protect against this type of phishing in the future and are notifying the Huntsville Police Department (HPD) about this event. In the meantime, if you responded to the message and purchased gift cards, please contact the office right away or call the HPD Cyber Department at (256) 427-7224.
Thank you for your understanding.
Susan Coddington
UUCH Board President

Bring Your Shovel and Gloves
The next property day is this Saturday, April 5th. We are excited to report that all the lights are working properly now. This week, we will start filling the big planter containers. We have some wheelbarrows lined up, but if you have one of those wonderful stable garden carts, please bring it. Also, bring a shovel and your work gloves to protect your hands.

Share the Plate with Huntsville Bail Fund
During the second quarter of 2025, UUCH is sharing our plate proceeds with the Huntsville Bail Fund. All plate proceeds received from the Thursday before the first Sunday through the Saturday after the first Sunday will be split with the Huntsville Bail Fund. In April, this includes plate donations received from April 3rd through April 12th.
The Huntsville Bail Fund is a grassroots, abolitionist organization working to end pretrial incarceration and build collective safety in northern Alabama. They post bail for people who cannot afford it, prioritizing support for poor, Black, queer, disabled, and otherwise marginalized individuals targeted by the criminal legal system. Their work is rooted in mutual aid, community care, and a commitment to dismantling systems that uphold racial and economic injustice. Through court support, outreach, advocacy, and public education, they seek to transform how communities respond to harm—centering healing, accountability, and liberation rather than punishment, surveillance, or state violence.
For more information, please visit their website at https://www.hsvbailfund.org/. Please consider giving generously to this important local organization.

Thank You For Your Support of Our Annual Budget Drive Banquet!
Our “Love at the Center” Stewardship Banquet was a success: delicious food, fellowship and beautiful music. Thanks to all who supported this community building event!!
A majority of members have responded to our annual budget drive now, but we are still seeking pledges from more of you to meet our funding needs for next church year. If you’ve not made a pledge yet, won’t you take the time now to do so? It would mean so much and would help our church leaders make sound financial decisions for our future.
We ask that no one gives beyond what is appropriate for them; every pledge is deeply appreciated and needed regardless of amount! See our website to make your pledge online here

Board Report March 26, 2025
The UUCH Board met via Zoom for the regularly scheduled March meeting.
The Board discussed materials to be produced for the Annual Congregational meeting, including by-laws adjustments to invite Nominating Committee to be included as part of Council meetings and adjustments to correct for typographical and other outright errors in the by-laws. The Board met with a representative from Safety Committee, Shalin Mody, to discuss the formation of what was agreed would be termed “Neighborhood Pods” to provide members with both social and safety opportunities with other members in close physical proximity. Such pods would be an opt-in arrangement. Shalin will make plans to offer such pods this spring.
Rev. Ruth reported on her third month as sabbatical minister, including a number of pastoral contacts, meetings, and a pulpit appearance.
The Treasurer, Khoe Tran, reported that the church finances are good with expenses below, and income above, predictions for this point in the year. CYRE requested funds be transferred from the DRE’s professional development budget, as she has been able to attend no-cost events and does not anticipate requiring the full budget this year. She will make plans to attend more events with next year’s budget.
The Vice-President and Chair of Council, Bryan Walls, raised issues with church rentals on the evening before potlucks, limiting the degree to which the physical space can be arranged in advance. For the next few months, where there is conflict a change in schedule will be arranged.
The next regularly scheduled Board meeting will again be held via Zoom, to accommodate Rev. Ruth’s attendance, on April 23, 2025. The annual congregational meeting is scheduled for June 8, 2025.

Little Food Pantry
Many of our neighbors and many unhoused people visit our LFP frequently. Consider buying a few extra cans of soup or veggies to contribute! For suggestions of what to donate (and what not to donate), check out this list: Pantry Food Items. Remember that many families don’t have the experience or the equipment to handle dried beans, and that the unhoused particularly benefit from cans that don’t require can openers. A little help from us can go a long way Please, if you are able to fill it up, note your name in the Sign-Up Genius. Also, you can bring non- perishables to church, as there are baskets. A big thank you to all who do contribute!
