Huntsville Assistance Program
The Social Justice Committee
has a goal to collect at least 100 items each month for the food pantry.
Please put your nonperishable food items or personal care products donations in the basket in the church foyer for the Huntsville Assistance Program.
They run low on cereal, canned fruit, mac and cheese, peanut butter, instant mashed potatoes, Hamburger Helper-type meals, and canned veggies -- but not green beans or corn.
They are always
grateful for our donations. Thank you for your continued generosity!

"Black Lives of Unitarian Universalists: Honoring Their Voices and Experiences
"
Brad Korb
In our commitment to
dismantling white supremacy as a system and embracing the presence and leadership of people of color
, white Unitarian Universalists are still learning to de-center our whiteness so that people of color are brought from the margins to the center. Our worship service will be centered around the voices and experiences of black Unitarian Universalists that will teach us to be better allies, better siblings of faith, and better citizens in our community. Join us as we practice that work and promise a new way of being together.

UUCH Board Meeting Report
February 28
The UUCH Board of Trustees had their monthly meeting on February 28, 2019.
The Board unanimously approved the selection of the members of the Ministerial Search Committee. The committee will be composed of Betsy Applegate, Laurel Bollinger, Suzey DeLacey, Nancy Finley, Vickie Goodman, Barbara Hitt, Brad Korb, and Tim Miller.
In other business, the Board discussed the Annual Budget Drive and the formation of a future Stewardship Committee. It also discussed the need for new financial software for the church, as well as some building requests from the Property Committee. Work on the finalization of proposed bylaws continues, as does work on establishing a 501(c)(3) for the church. Town halls for further discussion of the bylaws will be held.
A date for the annual Congregational Meeting was established for May 19, 2019.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board will be March 26, 2019.

From the Ministerial Search Committee
Last Sunday, UUCH formally launched the Ministerial Search Committee with a moving ceremony during the worship service. The members of the Committee are Betsy Applegate, Laurel Bollinger, Suzey DeLacey, Nancy Finley, Vickie Goodman, Barbara Hitt, Brad Korb (Chair), and Tim Miller.
The Committee went directly to work and is currently reviewing the extensive procedures provided by the Unitarian Universalist Association that assist in the search for a settled minister. It is our intention to keep the congregation well-informed about each stage of the process and to seek your input and support throughout. We appreciate the trust and confidence placed in us and hope that you will feel free to talk to any member of the Committee with concerns or questions.

"Wi$e Principles of
Personal Finance and the
Power of Financial Planning"
Do money worries cloud your focus or invade your sleep? Do money fights disrupt your relationships? Do you need help figuring out how to make ends meet? Do you want to get to the place where a missed paycheck is an inconvenience but not a crisis? Do you want to learn how to use money as a tool in living a contented, generous life?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, join us as we look at managing money as a spiritual practice. Through a book study and group discussion, we will look at attitudes about money and learn how to manage it in a way that leaves room for matters of the spirit.
This four-session Adult RE class will continue
every other Friday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Remaining sessions are
March 15, March 29, and April 12.
Everyone is welcome, so bring your friends! Parents, bring your teenagers! Married couples and life partners are strongly encouraged to attend together. Childcare will be provided.
Copies of the book and workbook are available courtesy of the Social Justice and Adult RE Committees.
Sign up in the Fellowship Hall, or email
Michelle Clark for more information
. Facilitators Bob Locklear and Michelle Clark look forward to seeing you there!

Are You Ready to
Become a Member?
If you've been attending UUCH long enough to know that this church community feels like your spiritual home, you may be ready to take the next step and become a member. On an upcoming Sunday in late March, we will welcome new members as they "sign the book" and officially join our church.
If you are ready to become a member or would like to find out more about the process, please contact Membership Chair Pam Korb by March 24
.
RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF MEMBERSHIP
Because we are a democratic community, members are collectively vested with responsibility for the congregation. Members may vote at all congregational meetings, be elected to the governing Board, be appointed as committee chairs, and participate in all activities of the congregation.
Because we are a covenanted congregation, members have certain responsibilities to the congregation and to each other. These responsibilities are best fulfilled by:
- Regular attendance at worship
- Voting at congregational meetings
- Making financial contributions
- Contributing time and talent
- Spiritual growth and development

If you are unable to lie on the floor, please let us know, and we will make an accommodation for you.
This Adult RE class, led by Sally Locklear, is drop-in, with no experience necessary. Everyone is welcome.
We meet each Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Adult Religious Education Room.
For further information, contact Adult RE chair Nancy Finley.
