June's Theme: Joy
Upcoming Service

Sunday, June 18th, 2017

                 "Allies Among Us"

As we celebrate Pride month, it's important to remember that Allies play a big role in the care and support of the LGBTQ community. Being an ally is more than just wearing your rainbow flag pin; it's about being willing to stand up in the face of oppression and step back allowing those in the community to lead.

This Sunday we will hear from Allies about their journey towards understanding and support.

This service is presented by the Worship Committee and members of our Congregation.
This Sunday in Children and
Youth Religious Education

We continue our Summer RE program assembling MEAL PACKS FOR HOMELESS OUTREACH with the Social Justice Committee.

For information or to register a child, contact Erin Reid, Director of Religious Education (DRE), at [email protected] or Audrey Fox, CYRE Chair, at [email protected]
  Pride Festival
 on Saturday
Everyone Welcome

It is LGBTQ+ Pride time again! This year, UUCH Interweave will be hosting a booth at the 2017 Rocket City Pride Community Festival on Saturday, June 17th, starting at 11:00 a.m. The event will be held this year at the Butler Green on Campus 805 located at 2620 Clinton Avenue West in Huntsville. It will be a fun, family day full of musical entertainment and information sharing. We encourage all UUCH folks to drop by, hang out at our booth and show that we Stand On the Side of Love.

We know that there is a lot going on that day at UUCH, but the Pride Festival continue on all through the afternoon and evening. We hope you can work some time in your schedule. Also, check out other Pride events going on this week at www.rocketcitypride.com. Rocket City Pride is organized and presented by Free2Be LGBTQ Safe Resource Center. We look forward to seeing you there!

Bobby's Birthday Bash
Saturday, June 17, 2017
6:30 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.

This is not a milestone birthday for Bobby, but it will be a memorable event for you! Featuring a "house concert" by The Red Wine Effect (TRWE, good friends from Nashville) and delicious snacks from Willette, what more could you ask for?

TRWE is a duet with beautiful harmonies, delightful lyrics, and glorious spirits. Their backup group is super-talented, too! Come, hear some wonderful songs and celebrate the joy of being together.

Bring a happy spirit, a big smile, an easy laugh, and hands ready to clap!

To help in the refreshments and other  preparations, please contact Bobby Hall at [email protected] or (256) 975-3705.
UUkulele Fun Group will meet through the summer!

The UUkulele Fun Group will continue to meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. to enjoy ukulele playing. This group is for all levels of familiarity with the ukulele - from the "very beginner" to more "seasoned" players. We have a new song book to share that has lively songs we can all play together. So come make a little music with us.

This group is sponsored by UUCH Adult RE. Contact Nancy Finley [email protected] or Glen Clark [email protected] for further information.

Care List

This Sunday, June 11th, 2017, at our Circle of Candles:

Sarah Kinley: Her mother,Theresa, lost her life to cancer when Sarah was 20. Sunday, she would have been 70. Sarah's thinking of her.

Barbara and Gary Hitt
, a candle of joy: It was a big day for them--Barbara's birthday, their daughter's birthday, and her son's birthday. Three generations all born on June 11th! We all were invited to have a piece of Babara's birthday cake in the fellowship hall after the service. It was huge and she didn't want to eat it herself, jokingly fearing she may not live to her next birthday if she did!
