Share the Plate Week
Sunday, December 6 - Saturday, December 12

Sunday, December 6 through Saturday, December 12, 2020, we will receive STP donations. If writing a check, it helps to add STP on the line item. STP plate donations can be made online this week at our website (under Connecting, Donate, Give Now), click on “Select Fund” and select "Plate" or click the button below and select "Plate" for the fund.
This will be the final month of three (October-December) for regular plate-partner the Jerrod Michael Lockett Foundation, a public non-profit organization striving to decrease the potential for violence in our communities. Nominated for STP by Sally Locklear.

Since losing his younger brother, Jarrod M. Lockett, to gun violence, Justin Lockett founded the Foundation in 2013 to educate families about the effects of gun violence, how to properly have preventative conversations, and provide outreach programs within the community supporting families who are victims of violent crimes. The Foundation has since provided community outreach programs to include scholarship opportunities, Christmas giveaways, back-to-school drives, volunteering with local schools, the Special Olympics, educational trips, and other events.

In 2017, Justin created the “League of Legacy” mentoring program focused on uplifting and empowering young men to become the best versions of themselves. Justin reminds his followers: “Your legacy is not something that you leave behind for someone, but something that you leave in someone.”

Members and friends of the congregation may nominate future plate partners through the chair of a UUCH committee or directly to Social Justice. Each proposed partner should be a 501(c)(3) community service organization.

Pageant Prep Sunday!

Calling all Magi, Donkey's, and Dinosaurs!

UUCH’s Annual Christmas Pageant will be performed during the Worship Service on Sunday, December 20. This has been an unconventional year. Along that same tune, our pageant will march to its own beat! This year's pageant will be a creative take on the traditional story, with a cast of unique puppets. Children, youth, and adults are all invited to take part.

Children and youth who would like to participate in the pageant should plan to attend CYRE this Sunday (12/6) for casting and a short rehearsal, next Sunday (12/13) for simple puppet-making, and the following Sunday for a rehearsal before the pageant (12/20).

Parents should plan to step into the CYRE Zoom call this Sunday to confirm their child's participation. More information will be sent out to families via email and on our family Facebook page. Adults interested in participating or for other inquiries please contact Harper Goodman at DRE@uuch.org. There are parts for everyone!
Registration for the new year in CYRE is still open!

Please use the link below to register your children and youth. Whether you've registered in the previous year or are brand new, we'd love to include you in our joyful and welcoming community of all ages. If you'd like more information about the CYRE Program, please contact acting DRE Harper Goodman.

Little Food Pantry & Blankets/Socks Drive

The LFP is going strong. Thanks to all of you who support it! Please continue to sign up on the SignUp genius.

FIRST STOP and Grateful Life Church are in need of blankets and socks for our homeless neighbors. As homeless can do laundry at First Stop, the need is for washable blankets. You can drop them in or on the overflow food pantry brown box by the door of the church. It’s cold now and folks need help.

Thanksgiving for Vegetarians/Vegans, & Others

Yes, by the time this has been published, Thanksgiving will have passed. I still feel called to express my gratitude. Tomorrow I am meeting with a very small group, outdoors, to celebrate Thanksgiving. I am so grateful for these few, thoughtful people who are collaborating to make a meal that accommodates the vegan (my daughter and partner), the diabetic (a friend), the red meat allergic (me), and the carnivore (my husband). It reminds me of what I love about our church. I was so impressed when I attended the first potluck and saw the thoughtfulness in the labeling of the food items. I will be extremely grateful when we can meet together again in such a loving and caring community. Soon, my friends, soon. Hang on. Teri Thomas

UUSC Guest at Your Table

Please support the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) in its mission to advance human rights worldwide. Each year, through its Guest at Your Table fundraising campaign during December, UUSC invites us to join or to renew our memberships. This year, instead of little Guest at Your Table boxes and donation envelopes, UUSC has provided visual stories about the “guests” that your donations to UUSC will support. Thank you. Watch the videos here.

Donating by Text or Online
To give a plate offering to UUCH from your mobile device, text the amount (without dollar sign) to 833-559-0257, and follow the instructions. Text giving is by debit or credit card only.

Like our other online and mobile giving options, this option is through Vanco, is secure, and has a good option for "plate" donations.
To give from your bank account, you can still use the UUCH website or the GivePlus+ mobile app.
