Worship with Fellow UUs
Sunday, December 27
11:00 a.m.
|
Dear UUCH,
On Sunday, December 27th, we are taking advantage of technology in this pandemic and are visiting UUs in other parts of the country. We have been warmly invited to join live Zoom worship at the UU Fellowship of Durango Colorado and at the Community Church of New York, in New York City. Both Services begin on Zoom at 11:00 a.m. Central, though they are in other time zones.
The UU Durango service will be led by a musician in their community, who will offer beautiful music and reflections on music and spirituality.
The Community Church of New York will be offering a service about the traditions and celebration of Kwanzaa.
Take your pick and enjoy getting to worship with fellow UUs.
Community Church of New York:
Meeting ID: 212 683 4988. The passcode is 10016 or there is a link on their homepage to join the service ( https://www.ccny.org/).

Christmas Day Walk
December 25, 2020
2:30 p.m.
The Holidays are so different this year. For safety’s sake, many have canceled plans for travel and large gatherings, and that means people are celebrating the holiday alone. If you live alone and will be entirely by yourself this Christmas Day, please consider joining Rev. Jaimie and Clementine for a socially distant Holiday stroll through the Tinsel Town Trail downtown. We will meet at the main entrance on Church St. at 2:30 p.m. and walk around the trees. We will wear masks and keep socially distanced. This should be a fun and safe way to break up the zoom calls and Christmas movies. Please email Rev. Jaimie at minister@uuch.org to let her know if you plan to attend!

UUSC Guest at Your Table
Please support the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) in its mission to advance human rights worldwide. Each year, through its Guest at Your Table fundraising campaign during December, UUSC invites us to join or to renew our memberships. This year, instead of little Guest at Your Table boxes and donation envelopes, UUSC has provided visual stories about the “guests,” that your donations to UUSC will support. Thank you. View a compilation of the visual stories here: Watch Video

Little Food Pantry
Please see previous newsletters for food ideas to fill the pantry. If you are unable to use the sign-up schedule but would still like to fill the pantry, please try to fill it on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday, which are between sign-up days. It is usually empty on those days. If the pantry is full, add your food to the overflow box by the church door. Thanks for your support of this important ministry of the congregation!

FIRST STOP and Grateful Life Church are in need of blankets and socks for our homeless neighbors through January. As homeless can do laundry at First Stop, the need is for washable blankets. You can drop them in or on the overflow food pantry brown box by the door of the church. It’s cold now and folks need help.

Donating by Text or Online
|
|
To give a plate offering to UUCH from your mobile device, text the amount (without dollar sign) to 833-559-0257, and follow the instructions. Text giving is by debit or credit card only.
Like our other online and mobile giving options, this option is through Vanco, is secure, and has a good option for "plate" donations.

This Sunday at our Circle of Candles:
Angela Arnold lit a candle of joy: My heart is bursting with joy for everyone who worked to put together this service today!
The DeMoors (Bridgit) lit a candle of joy: I tested negative for COVID-19.
Mary Ann Conklin lit a candle of gratitude/joy: Thankful that a grandchild has been accepted to college on a full scholarship.
Michaela Whitehead lit a candle of joy: My third child turned 6 months old on Friday, and, in celebration of his birthday, we donated our first 126 ounces of frozen breast milk to Mother's Milk Bank of Alabama so that NICU babies can receive the milk! Feeling grateful for the opportunity to donate.
Kathy Fisher lit a candle of concern: Both my daughter and son-in-law have COVID-19.
Harper Goodman lit a candle of gratitude: Grateful for the families, children, and youth of the church, and that I have been blessed with the opportunity to lead them. Thank you for all your participation this year. I love you!
Willie Robinson lit a candle of joy/sorrow/gratitude: Let us be joyful in making it through this year of trials and tribulations. Let us forever keep those that have moved on from this life and forever keep them in our memories, for their lives meant so much. Thank you to the one and only Rev. Jaimie Dingus for doing so much to keep our spirits lifted.
Pam Siegler lit a candle of joy: Erin continues to heal without so many headaches! She's overjoyed to smell the coffee finally!
Harper Goodman, Kathy Fisher, Kathryn Heath, LaDawn Edwards, Pam Siegler all lit a candle of joy: Lovely! A wonderful rendition of this piece! I was moved by the artistic playing of Erin and Laurel. Love the journey you take us down when you play, Erin.
