Upcoming Service

Sunday, July 2nd, 2017

     " Resist and Rejoice
                          The Reverend Alice Syltie

The Resist and Rejoice! theme of this year's General Assembly calls us to embody a more anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and multicultural faith. Bryan Stevenson, this year's Ware Lecture speaker, reminded us that being in proximity with people is an important step in fulfilling this mission.

This Sunday, we welcome Dexter Strong and Aaron McNully, from REACHsv (Racial Equality Action Committee of Huntsville), to speak with us about the important work toward justice, equity, and compassion happening in our city.  Aaron serves as the Director of Community Affairs and Dexter is the Director of Development. REACHsv exists to highlight and address issues of structural racism and inequality and to promote racial equality in Huntsville and the surrounding area.

Their work with REACHsv has led to collaborative efforts with a number of great organizations in the area: the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) Huntsville chapter, Project Say Something (based in Florence), Faith in Action Alabama, Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ), Tennessee Valley Progressive Alliance (TVPA), and Indivisible. Come and hear how we can participate in this important work.

Also this Sunday, we Share The Plate with The Rose of Sharon Soup Kitchen and Thrift Store. For more about the program, see the article below.

Care List

This Sunday, June 18th, 2017, at our Circle of Candles:

We light a candle of hope and blessings for our new UUA President, The Reverend Susan Fredrick-Gray. May her service be one of compassionate leadership and strength.

We
light a candle of joy: John Czachurski is home from the hospital recovering. We keep him in our hearts and prayers.

Bobby Hall, a candle of joy: A BIG thank you to everyone able to attend "Bobby's Birthday Bash" with the Red Wine Effect House concert last Saturday. An even BIGGER THANK YOU to those who helped to setup, cleanup, and brought food. A still BIGGER THANK YOU to Willette, our office administrator, who supplied the two delicious rum cakes. Everyone had so much fun. This may become an annual event!
