Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have,
for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.  Hebrews 13:16
GREETINGS
Utica UMC received a lovely card addressed to the church as a whole from Carl & Betty Bell which read, "Merry Christmas to all and a blessed New Year.
THANK YOU
The staff of your Utica UMC sincerely thanks the congregation for the great remembrance and Love Offering which was distributed to us as a Christmas Bonus this last week.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated and it makes it so easy for us to work with all of you.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
LOST & FOUND
After the morning service on Sunday, December 16th, one lonely earring was found in the Sanctuary.  If you are missing a lovely Christmas earring, please give us a call of stop in during office hours so we can return it to the rightful owner.
MOMENTS WITH MARK #215

"But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people.  You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession.  As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light." (1Peter 2:9, NLT)  As God's chosen people, we should show others the goodness of God!  We should be a "thermostat" and not a "thermometer."  It's easier to be a thermometer and go with the flow than to be a thermometer and influence what's going on around us.

A thermometer reflects the temperature.  It indicates what's going on.  Those who are "thermometers" are up and down depending what's happening in their lives or with the people they are around every day.  They reflect the culture, are influenced by the crowd, and follow the leader.

God needs more people to be "thermostats."  These are people of influence that set the tone.  They help to change and transform the things around them.  They set a positive example and are intentional about using their wisdom and influence to affect others.  They are "salt and light" in a world that needs Jesus!  They stand up and stand out!

Are you influencing and affecting the world or is the world influencing and affecting you?  We can be "thermostats" in our everyday environments.  If we reflect the thoughts and actions of Jesus, the "thermometers" will rise higher too!
