CARGE CONFERENCE

DON'T FORGET TO ATTEND OUR CHARGE CONFERENCE TONIGHT.  WE WILL BE
HOSTING EIGHT OTHER UNITED METHODIST CHURCHES FROM AROUND THE AREA.

"The charge conference is the basic governing body of each United Methodist local church and is composed of all members of the church council.  All members of the charge conference must be members of the local church.  The charge conference must meet at least once per year. The charge conference directs the work of the church and gives general oversight to the church council, reviews and evaluates the mission and ministry of the church, sets salaries for the pastor and staff, elects the members of the church council, and recommends candidates for ordained ministry.  This year our charge conference will be held right here at Utica UMC.  All members are encouraged to come, show support and vote at this year's charge conference!"

SMALL GROUPS

Small Groups have one, simple purpose: to bring people together. We believe God created us to live in relationship with others and only then can we live the full life He intends for us. Sharing life through community is part of our design, but meaningful relationships aren't always easy to find. That's why Small Groups exist-to make these life-changing relationships relevant and accessible to you.  Check one of these out!

For complete list and additional information regarding the available groups, contact Pastor Jason or the office and we will email it to you.

MOMENTS WITH MARK #208

The Fifth Spiritual Season is the season of "Spiritual Warfare."  We have an enemy, the devil, who comes against us in any way possible.  "He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8 NLT)

Our biggest problems have spiritual roots!  We are in a spiritual battle that we often look at through natural eyes, blaming people and situations for our struggles.  To fight this battle, we must put on our "spiritual armor." (Ephesians 6:13-17 NLT) This armor includes: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit (the word of God).  These are our weapons for battle!

Though the battle belongs to the Lord, we are soldiers in the fight.  God fights for us, but we must do our part to resist the devil.  Put on your armor!  "So humble yourselves before God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7 NLT) He's already been defeated, but he tries to take as many people with him as he can.  Stand firm and be strong in the Lord!
