A New Courtyard for Veterans Inc. in Shrewsbury, MA

On Thursday, October 4, 2012, The Home Depot Foundation, with the assistance of multiple vendors donating in-kind products and labor, completed an overhaul and renovation of the Veterans Inc. courtyard located in Shrewsbury, MA. Over 100 volunteers showed up to help install 60 pallets of pavers, tons of substrate material, oversized planters, borders and new greenery to include; trees, shrubs, foliage, grasses, and semi-circular benches created in stone.

"The incredible generosity of The Home Depot and The Home Depot Foundation cannot be overemphasized," stated Vincent J. Perrone, Lieutenant Colonel, USAF (Retired), Veterans Inc. President and CEO. "The Home Depot has made an outstanding business decision to not only support veterans but to actively make a difference in their lives. The Home Depot, from their corporate leadership team to their retail associates, is made up of an amazing group of hard-working, dedicated individuals, who have made a conscious choice to give of their time and help our veterans not only here in Shrewsbury but across the nation."

"Through the tireless efforts of The Home Depot staff associates and volunteers, the courtyard will be returned to its original majestic splendor. It will not only offer our veterans an area for quiet reflection, it will also become a major outdoor function area for events and patriotic ceremonies," explained Denis Leary, Veterans Inc. Executive Director. "The benefits of this project will be felt for years to come by generations of veterans and their families, as will the deep sense of appreciation that we will always have for The Home Depot."
