There were no ifs, ands or "buts" when the University of Minnesota (U of M) reached out to their very own Walter Bond, asking him to take his place as a member of the nationally recognized alumni board. Bond was officially
inducted on May 4.
Bond who graduated from the U of M in 1991 with a BA is Communications coveted a full scholarship in sports where he was an all star shooting guard for the University. After graduating from the U of M, Bond overcame a devastating injury to become the first NBA rookie free agent ever to start on opening night.
Bond later went on to have an eight-year professional basketball career, playing alongside such NBA greats as Karl Malone and John Stockton as a guard for the Utah Jazz and the Detroit Pistons. However, It would be his quick plays off the court that earned him the name "Mr. Accountability".
Bond's astonishing journey provides the foundation for the principles he teaches to help empower people in their own personal journey. Today, he is recognized as one of the world's preeminent experts on personal accountability.
Bond has impacted hundreds of thousands of people in his rapid rise to the top of the speaking industry. He is now taking his tough accountability practices to the alumni board of the U of M. The University of Minnesota has 60,000 members of the Alumni Association. There are 400,000 graduates of the University of Minnesota.
