Change is not easy, and more than most of us resist it. There’s the story of the new pastor telling the Session about plans for the Church’s centennial celebration. One elder was vehemently opposed, “We haven’t had one in a hundred years, why do we need one now?”
As Westminster Presbyterian Church has made its way through the pandemic and all the changes brought with it, we appreciate your patience and prayers. And if change is not easy, I know that being patient can be even more difficult. But the first definition of love, says Paul, is patience. So, I trust your love to carry us through.
We are on the threshold of our doors reopening. The details are being worked out so that all our members are cared for and their needs addressed as the church opens for worship and gatherings.
Let us move forward as Christ’s disciples “
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace
.” (Ephesians 4:2-3)

Westminster Organ Summer 2020

This year marks the tenth season of Westminster’s series of free summer organ concerts. Although the concerts will be available online only this year, you can expect the same great music displaying the endless variety of organ sounds. The six organists are most enthusiastic to share their music and the beauty of the organ during this most unusual summer. Plan to listen and be inspired.

In light of the current focus on racial issues, Peace and Justice is coordinating a discussion of two important films:
Selma
, focusing on events leading up to the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and
Just Mercy
, which looks at attorney Bryan Stevenson’s work to defend those wrongly condemned or unable to afford representation. A number of streaming services, including YouTube, Amazon Prime, and GooglePlay, are offering free viewing of these films throughout the month of June.
