Hello,
You’ve heard it said that “tomorrow never comes, because when it does, it is today!”
I understand that in terms of time and the hours of the day, but there are times when I think you do see tomorrow come.
When we lived on Amelia Island, Florida, my wife and I enjoyed early morning walks along the beach, early morning being just before dawn. As we walked, we would look out across the ocean and watch as the first strokes of sunlight were being painted on the blank canvas of a new day!
There is that moment in time suspended when the transcendent breaks in, and there is a glimpse of tomorrow coming toward us turning into the new day. Someone commented that the reason God does not let us see the future that clearly is that if we did, we might want to turn back the other way into yesterday!
But listen to Paul who says you have a choice as to what you focus on each day , what you put on your ‘to do’ list: those things that true and honorable, thankful to the Lord for the day…(Philippians 4:4-9). Like the sun rising on the new day, we have the opportunity to be the light of the world in all that we do (Matthew 5:14-16).
The Session, our Staff, and each of you are seeking to make faithful choices, caring choices, difficult choices, fundamental decisions and commitments as we move into each new day.
Let us be patient, encouraging, prayerful and be filled by the “peace of God which passes all understanding” (Philippians 4:7).
Grace and peace,
Bruce Lancaster
