Winnie's Corner

Viva Las Vegas!!!

My human went on the road to a conference in Las Vegas last week and I got to tag along. Wrapped up in a comfortable yet secure kitty holder and firmly attached to my leash, I hung on tight as we rode the elevator up to our room and back down again as we headed off to the meeting.

After the elevator ride, we walked through a giant room filled with noisy machines with lots of blinking lights and sounds of ringing bells and dropping coins. It must be fascinating for humans as I peeked out of my kitty carrier and saw many people sitting and staring motionless at the machines like I sit at the window waiting for a bird to fly by.

Next, we visited the feline friendly booth and met several celebrity cats showing off their stuff. Not only did I get to meet two wonderful Kurilian Bobtails and two Persians, but I also met the star of the show, the acknowledged marquee attraction, a beautiful Bengal kitten appropriately named "Marquee Attraction".  I initially thought his name was "Oh My Gosh" as that is what almost all the human visitors to the TICA booth would say when they first saw his lovely spotted coat.

Memo to cat owners:
More and more cats are travelling with their owners. Hotels with pet friendly policies and new, innovative carrier designs ensuring safe and secure transport are making it easier and safer for our cat companions to accompany us on our trips.

To ensure your feline friend is ready to travel, condition your cat by carrying them around the house, preferably in a cloth wrap carrier close to your body. Start with small trips and observe how your companion reacts to loud noises and unexpected actions.

Happy Travels!

Quote of the Month

I saw the most beautiful cat today. It was sitting by the side of the road, its two front feet neatly and graciously together. Then it gravely swished around its tail to completely and ugly encircle itself. It was so fit and beautifully neat, that gesture, and so self-satisfied--so complacent.
