It has been a summer at sea for World Vets volunteers who have been a part of our veterinary teams on board two civil - military missions. Since May World Vets has had veterinary personnel on board both the Continuing Promise and Pacific Partnership missions respectively.

To support these missions, World Vets contributes veterinary expertise, skill, and manpower. In return, this partnership has allowed us to expand our reach and help many animals in remote locations. It has also afforded us the opportunity to work with, train, as well as support, veterinary professionals and institutions operating in the countries visited. Watch a video of the work and importance our veterinary teams play here

As part of these missions, our volunteers travel on board hospital ships, work alongside US Army veterinary personnel and provide services and training onshore. Read about our vet teams' experience on the 2015 Pacific Pacific mission here

This summer we have helped serve countless communities and animals within Latin America and the Caribbean, in addition to the South Pacific, and South East Asia.

Multiple Large Scale Operatives Conducted Across the Globe

World Vets Team Albania (pictured) performed over 200 surgeries benefiting animals in Shkoder. This was World Vets first time to Albania.

During the month of August, World Vets was in Central America, South America and Eastern Europe carrying out large scale operatives for small animals. We had veterinary teams in Nicaragua, Peru and Albania where over 700 spay/neuter surgeries were performed by our dedicated volunteers.

We wish to thank Fondation Brigitte Bardot for their support of these endeavors, our local partners collaboration, in addition to our veterinary teams' passion and tireless efforts. Hundreds of animals benefited from these campaigns and we are extremely grateful for everyone's contribution in realizing this.

Now Available! Student Internship in Central America

World Vets is now offering an internship opportunity for students at its Latin America Veterinary Training Center, located in Granada, Nicaragua. This opportunity is specifically geared towards pre-veterinary and/or veterinary technician students, as there is no surgical component involved for participants.

Internships are offered throughout the year and are for a minimum of one month (4 weeks), though can last up to 2-3 consecutive months. Interns will serve an auxiliary role in clinic activities. For instance, helping to prep patients for surgery, monitoring vitals during surgery and tending to patients in recovery. However, there will also be other tasks and/or activities that interns may be involved with depending on the events scheduled during their internship.
