The Business Education Network, a program of the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber, worked with the Willmar Middle School to arrange for over 20 business professionals to present to the 8th grade class this spring. Each spoke about the day-to-day in their careers, different areas of employment at their business, the educational path needed, and various skills that are helpful to be successful on any career path. Thank you to these businesses for allowing your employees to give their time to help educate our future workforce: Anez Consulting, Bethesda, CentraCare, Christianson PLLP, CDS, Duininck Inc, Jennie-O, Minnesota Department of Transportation, Northern Services, Ridgewater College, Royal Cutz, San Diego Padres Social Media Squad, Tires Plus, Weichert Realtors, Willmar Fire Department, Willmar Hypnosis, Willmar Public Schools, Willmar Stingers, and Willmar WarHawks.
Additionally, BEN and the Willmar High School welcomed Christianson PLLP, Lake Region Bank, and CLUES-Career Development Navigator & Community Liaisons to Zero Hour in May. Each business brought a fun game to engage the students to learn more about their business. Zero Hour is scheduled every other week for students to catch up on tests or missing work. Those that do not have work to catch up on are in the commons area until classes start at 9am. This gives us the opportunity to showcase all the fantastic businesses right here in the Willmar Lakes Area. If you would like the opportunity to connect with students, please reach out to Jennifer Lindquist at bencoordinator@willmarareachamber.com.
