Star Wars Day (or near enough!) is happening at Fredericksburg and Salem Church branches from 3:00 to 5:00 on 5/3. Come by for Star Wars-themed activities, trivia, and crafts for all ages while supplies last.
Stop by Salem Church Branch throughout May to enjoy the marvelous CRRL-Con Art Show, featuring original work by local comic artists of all ages. Come on the evening of 5/12 for a celebratory reception with light refreshments!
All are welcome at Teen Poetry Night, happening 5/7 at Fredericksburg Branch and featuring readings from the winners of the 2025 Claudia Emerson Teen Poetry Contest and its judges, local poets Laura Bylenok and Dr. David A. Sam.
We have monthly book groups for youth as well as adults. The Teen Book Group meets at Porter and online. On 5/8, they'll be discussing selected multigenerational stories. The LGBTQ+ Teen Book Group, held in partnership with Fredericksburg Pride, is looking at first-person stories told "In Their Own Words" on 5/20 at Fredericksburg Branch and online.

If you have a young reader (K-6) in your life, consider making a Paws for Reading appointment for practice reading aloud to a therapy dog trained to be an avid listener. Blue Gray Therapy Dogs also visit for Time with a Therapy Dog, for those with disabilities in grade 7 on up and adults, accompanied by their caregivers.

The Friends of the Library Membership Drive runs through their annual meeting on 5/5, featuring a musical performance by acclaimed acoustic artists Laurie Rose Griffith and Peter Mealy. Join or renew your membership to receive a special reward!
