Sorry to bring you all such a sad story but hope you find time to read it and maybe some of you can support this event in some way.
Dean and Helen are two of our competition dancers aged 27 and 30. They started with us about 6 years ago in the classes and are a funny and likeable couple who make everyone laugh. Helen is the brainy one and works at the University in medical research and Dean is a self employed electrician and is also in our Brief Encounter group as a part time stripper....as well as being addicted to football.
They got married in 2010 and last June they had their best ever dance result at Stars of the Future and things were looking up. A few weeks later Helen announced she was pregnant and baby was due in March. They have continued to dance up until just before Christmas until Helen got too big and was also having some back pain that made it uncomfortable. They came and supported everyone at Champions of Tomorrow in January which should have been their own big attempt at making the final and all seemed fine.
One week later, Dean took Helen to hospital as she wasn't feeling well. After looking at the scan doctors decided they needed to do and emergency caesarian as the baby's heart beat was starting to fail. A baby girl was delivered 5 weeks early on January 13th and is absolutely fine weighing in at 4lb 8 - a relief as doctors feared she would not survive after seeing the heart traces.
However, doctors could not stop Helen bleeding from her Liver and it turned into a major operation. Helen spent the next 10 days in intensive care unconscious. She has luckily survived and has now finally seen her baby and named her Ella. Doctors said this was the first case they have had where the patient has survived a ruptured Liver while giving birth.
A few days later doctors informed Helen and Dean that Helen had a cancerous tumor covering 80% of her Liver and in her Bile Duct making it inoperable and terminal.
Helen was finally allowed home last week to spend time with Dean and their baby, although Helen is very poorly and finds it hard to hold Ella.
We have started to fund raise for Helen and Dean as we didnt know what else to do. It is to help them as Dean cannot work at the moment and to show our love and support for this lovely couple. In the last week we have raised over �1500 and on 23rd February we are holding a fund raising dance night to raise further money for them. Many top couples from around the country are coming to perform free of charge and many lovely raffle prizes have been donated including a holiday in Portugal for 8 people which we will auction off. All proceeds will go to Dean and Helen. We are currently doing all we can to sell as many tickets as possible.
The fundraising dance will be at the Connaught Hotel in Wolverhampton. Tickets are �15.00 which includes a buffet, various cabarets, a very large raffle and an auction as well as general dancing. All proceeds will go to Helen and Dean's fund.

Hen Night Experience
We now offer the ultimate Hen Night experience at our luxury 5 star ballroom in Wolverhampton with our International Dance Stars. You can choose either a Strictly Come Dancing theme with dance instruction on the ballroom and latin dances, a grand final dance off with visual marking and champagne or a Burlesque Experience where you will learn a cheeky burlesque routine complete with feather boas and champagne. There is no better way of finding a partner than at one of our dance classes. Its a relaxed and fun environment with lots of laughs where you will get to meet lots of new people. If you come on your own, we will rotate you around the single partners so you get to dance with and meet lots of people. For some, it will be just a dance partner they want but for others, romance has often started in our dance classes with quite a number going on to even get married!...there has also been the odd divorce of course over the years! lol
