Mission u Dates Set!
Each year, United Methodist Women have studies for ALL to participate in.  This year, the studies are Missionary Conferences of The United Methodist Church in the United States, which will be led by Fran Lynch and Living as a Covenant Community: Spiritual Growth, led by Linda Haynes.  There will be three events throughout Alaska.  The first one will take place August 11-12 at Christ First UMC .  The second offering will be August 18-19 at Seward Memorial UMC.  The third event will be September 22-23 at UMC of Chugiak.

Making Discipleship a 'Contact Sport'

To follow Christ, get off the sidelines and onto the field. Some 600 United Methodist Men heard variations of this call and put it into action throughout the group's 12th National Gathering. Heather Hahn reports on the event with the theme "Discipleship: The Contact Sport."

Racial-Justice Grant Program Gets Started
Racial-justice projects initiated and led by young people will receive financial support with funds allocated by the Connectional Table, Discipleship Ministries and two other United Methodist general agencies. Grants up to $2,500 will be available, starting in September.

Judicial Council Rejects Reconsideration of Gay Bishop Ruling
Council of Bishops
The United Methodist Judicial Council was unanimous in rejecting a motion by the Western Jurisdiction College of Bishops asking the denomination's top court to reconsider its ruling in the case of a gay bishop.
