Superintendent Rapanut out in July
Superintendent Carlo Rapanut will be on vacation for the month of July.  If there is an emergency, please contact Rev. Bob Smith who will be covering for Carlo.  You can reach Bob at 907-330-7770.  Crystal will continue to be in the office during normal business hours.
AK Child & Family needs car magazines
AK Child & Family is looking for car magazines for a "Build Your Engine" group they are developing.  If you have any, please bring them to the Jesse Lee Campus Monday - Friday between 8:30am - 4:30pm.  They would be grateful.  If you have any questions, please contact Kelli Williams.

Bishops ask Philippines government to release UMC missionaries
The Council of Bishops of The United Methodist Church today issued a statement pertaining to three United Methodist missionaries who have been prevented from leaving the Republic of the Philippines by the country's government. The statement was signed by COB President Bishop Kenneth H. Carter and Global Ministries General Secretary Thomas Kemper.

The Council of Bishops of The United Methodist Church joins our colleague bishops in the Philippines in appealing to the government of the Republic of the Philippines for assistance and cooperation in the immediate release of three of our missionaries from the country.

The three young adults face differing situations with the Philippines' Bureau of Immigration, and our prayer is that all three be granted permission to leave the country immediately.

Full communion with Moravian Church finalized
The Northern Province of the Moravian Church in North America voted June 22 to enter into a full communion relationship with The United Methodist Church, allowing the agreement as a whole to be ratified.

As World Council of Churches leaders looked on, including United Methodist Bishop Mary Ann Swenson, Pope Francis spoke June 21 about the significance of Catholic involvement in ecumenical work and pledged commitment to the cause of Christian unity.

Conference returns land to Nez Perce
With one small rock, a monumental moment was honored at the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference gathering. The ceremony celebrated the conference's vote to return 1.5 acres of land at Wallowa Lake Camp to its rightful owners - the Nez Perce Tribe.

Rocky Mountain, Yellowstone plan union
In a historic vote, the Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone conferences agreed on June 9 to become the new Mountain Sky Conference. The vote followed a full day of debate and amendments, in which the delegates approved a six-section plan of union.
