What is Economic Development?

Economic development is the intentional practice of improving a community’s economic well-being, health, academic level and quality of life.


It includes a broad-range of activities to attract, create, and retain jobs, and to foster a resilient, pro-growth tax base and an inclusive economy.


The practice of economic development comprises of a collaborative effort involving industry, government and myriad community stakeholders.

READI Funds & Projects

Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) is initiating a variety of innovative Projects across the state of Indiana that promise to enhance the overall quality of life, foster a thriving environment, and create abundant opportunities for everyone.



Carroll County, which is part of the Greater Lafayette Region, is working on 2 projects with the help of the READI funds. The projects include The Interurban Apartments (which was part of READI 1) & the Childrens Garden, Bowen Estates and future Flora Wastewater infrastructure and Housing (which is part of READI 2.0).

2024 Annual Luncheon

Leadership Carroll County 2024-2025 kicked-off on September 11, 2024. Sixteen local leadership participants are apart of this class.


Our program would not be successful without the support of the Community Foundation Serving Howard, Clinton & Carroll Counties, NIPSCO, and other community members.


The Leadership Carroll County Class is led by our Advisory Committee. The committee members are Julia Leahy with the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, Jake Adams with the Carroll County Economic Development Corporation, Joel Sieplinga with Camp Tecumseh YMCA, and Barb Hickner with the Family Health Clinic

Hoosier Heartland Industrial Park (HHIP)
