Winter Guides Out Now

youth guideadult guide

Delivery has begun for the Winter 2013 Youth and Adult Winter Activity Guides. New adult activities this season include the Below Zero Bags Tournament, and the first ever winter softball tournament at McCaslin Park. New youth activities include a Father/Daughter Sports Night at DuPage Training Academy, a four-day lacrosse camp in March and new kids cooking classes.

If you don’t receive a guide in your home by Dec 1, please fill out our activity guide request form. The guides are also available to view online.

Send a Letter to Santa

When: Nov 26 - Dec 9
Where: Simkus Recreation Center

Drop off a letter to Santa that we will deliver to the North Pole, and your child will receive a personalized letter from Santa Claus! Look for the special mailbox inside Simkus Recreation Center. Please make sure that your child’s full name and address are included in the letter so that Santa knows where to send his reply.

You can also email him at santa@csparks.org. Don’t miss out on this special holiday tradition that is sure to put a smile on your child’s face!

Name Chosen for New Recreation Center

In November the Carol Stream Park District Board of Commisioners chose Fountain View Recreation Center as the name of the new 90,846 square foot center. The center will include an indoor swimming pool, new fitness center and an indoor running track, and is scheduled to open in fall 2013.

Recycle Your Old Holiday Lights

When: Nov 12 - Feb 4
Where: Simkus Recreation Center

Have your holiday lights lost their sparkle? The Carol Stream Park District will be collecting old lights for recycling as part of the fourth annual village lights recycling program. Lights will be collected from Nov 12 – Feb 4 at Simkus Recreation Center, Carol Stream Library and the Carol Stream Village Hall. Accepted lights included Italian Mini-lights, traditional bulb lights, rope lights, LED lights and extension cords. Proceeds from recycling go to the Carol Stream Christmas Sharing program.

Fee: $12 Res, $15 Non-Res (per person)

Find yourself a teammate. Register by Dec 17. From Jan 6 -Mar 2 compete for prizes against other teams in the league by working out as many times as you can each week (we’ll be keeping track and keeping score). Top overall team wins the Fitness Bowl Grand Prize - two all inclusive MyChoice Annual Fitness Memberships worth $500 each. Open to all Fitness Center and MyChoice Members. Don't have a team mate? Park Spotlight: Weeks Park West

Gerald R Weeks Memorial Park, in south east Carol Stream, is home to one of Carol Stream's two sled hills (the other is in Armstrong Park).

The 17 acre park also features two baseball fields, a soccer field, playground and a boating/fishing lake. Parking for Weeks Park is available on Morse Street. Get directions

Outdoor Winter Recreation

Ice skating: Ice skating is only permitted in Armstrong and Tedrahn parks, and only when a green flag is flying.

Sled Hills: Sled hills in Armstrong and Weeks Park West are open for public use during winter months.

Give the gift of recreation! Pick up a Carol Stream Park District gift certificate at Simkus Recreation Center. Gift certificates are available for any amount, they never expire and may be used for all Park District facility rentals and recreational programs.
