We're on our way! Last week the Carpinteria Arts Center brought in our finest demolition crew and they went to town, as you can see in this photograph from our board co-chair David Powdrell. To see the damage up close, please join us for tour on  Sunday, March 4 at 1:30 PM, with refreshments too.

We will be having periodic tours during the course of construction so our volunteers, donors, and interested community members can follow along with our exciting plans for a new Carpinteria Arts Center. Please feel free to be in touch with any questions.

Winter Whimsical Wednesday
Art Tours and Excursions
Art related events and tours typically on the first Wednesday of every month. We visit local galleries and museums, as well as Los Angeles art institutions.   All of our tours have a maximum number of participants.  To reserve a place on one of these excursions, register at  CarpinteriaArtsCenter.org or stop by the gallery Thursday through Monday, 10 to 4.  There is a minimal registration fee for local tours, payable to the Carpinteria Arts Center before the registration deadline for each event.

Mark your calendars for Thursday, March 1st from 5-9  when SBCAST presents the opening of The Crew, a collective of preparators and professionals from the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara (MCASB). This exhibition will be held in Studios D + E at  513 Garden St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

"The Crew" is made up of the people that handle and install artwork at MCASB. Offering a behind the scenes view of the museum, this exhibit aims to acknowledge and showcase that the execution of a museum's title artist's exhibit, relies on the work of the crew, a group of artists, craftspeople, and researchers who work below the line in the production of every exhibit. What comes across as a single curatorial vision has heterogeneous creative underpinnings. In coming together as a colle ctive, The Crew-and the current exhibit-highlight the concept of artistry in groundwork, in process, and in form.

Underpinnings, the inaugural exhibition of the newly-formed arts collective, The Crew, presents a selection of work representative of each artist's current research and practice, intersecting installation, painting, photography, and performance.

The Crew Artists: Ally Bortolazzo, Barrett Gentz, Sara Dildine, Arturo Heredia, Monika Molnar-Metzenthin, Tom Pazderka, Julia Rinklin, Raychel Rogers

Curators: Debra Herrick and Tom Pazderka
Organized at SBCAST by Maiza Hixson
