The annual Field of Honor is quickly approaching, and the Chamber is pleased to once again partner with the Asheboro Rotary Club on this very special event to be held from Thursday, November 11, through Sunday, November 14 at the baseball field at South Asheboro Middle School. 500 U.S. flags will be posted in perfect rows and columns in tribute of heroes, with the public able to sponsor flags in recognition of those heroes, including veterans, active duty service men and women, first responders, and any personal heroes or heroines.
Funds raised through this event benefit the Asheboro Rotary Club Scholarship Fund and the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber Charitable Foundation. Community members will be able to visit the Field of Honor display and walk among the flags, and sponsored flags will be tagged with the names of both the sponsor and the hero to whom it is dedicated. This event is a bit longer than in past years, and here is the schedule:
- On Thursday, November 11, flag sales will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. An opening ceremony will be held at 12 p.m.
- On Friday, November 12, the field will NOT be manned by volunteers, and there will be NO flag sales but the public is welcome to visit the field, which will be open to visitors.
- On Saturday, November 13, volunteers will be on site for flag sales between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- On Sunday, November 14, volunteers will be on site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A closing ceremony will be held at 3 p.m.

Are you interested in learning more about your county? Do you want to join over 800 esteemed graduates? It is the goal of Leadership Randolph to produce leaders who are interested in Randolph County, both now and in the future. Leadership Randolph offers you the opportunity to increase your knowledge and become actively involved in problem-solving through dialogue with leaders in the community.
The deadline to apply for the 2022 Leadership Randolph is November 19th.

Last Week in Raleigh & Washington D.C.:
Wondering what's happening with President Biden's vaccination mandate for companies with more than 100 employees? Last week through our NC Chamber Advocacy meeting, we learned that OSHA has sent to the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) the Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) that will require employers with at least 100 employees to ensure their employees are vaccinated or that they submit a negative COVID test on a weekly basis. Although we know the ETS is at OIRA, we do not know what it says or any details. How long the ETS will remain at OIRA is unknown, but the possibility exists that the ETS could be cleared and issued in the coming weeks.
The ETWS will take effect once published in the Federal Register, and then it will be open for comments. Under the OSH Act, the ETS will remain in place for six months. After the six months, OSHA can either replace it with a permanent standard that reflects the comments or discontinue the standard altogether. At this time, we expect that the ETS will require employees to provide some paid time off for employees to get vaccinated or to recover from getting vaccinated, although the specificities are unknown.
When more information becomes available, we will post it here in a future newsletter.

To adhere to proper social distancing, sanitation, and safety guidelines, all candy distribution will be done by City of Asheboro Employees. Local businesses may participate by making donations of candy, or other prizes for the event. All donors will receive event sponsorship signage along the distribution route.
