October 2023 Eureka Chamber of Commerce Newsletter
This month we are celebrating Susan's 25 years of work at the
Greater Eureka Chamber of Commerce!
Advocating for Our Members

Oftentimes people interpret “advocacy” solely as standing before elected officials at a public meeting to champion a specific cause.

However, advocacy is more often strategically being in the right room at the right time, frequently out of the limelight. We are at the table to represent your interests in conversations related to investment in our regional economy to the tune of tens of millions of dollars. We are also part of many conversations that impact policy related to business engagement in regional growth opportunities.

To be candid, I’m finding a lot of conversations about economic investment, workforce development and other issues that directly impact our members, lack a business presence. Other partnerseducation, funders, local government and othersare invited to the table in larger numbers, and are driving the conversations. In a very real sense, Chamber membersboth businesses and nonprofitsare the “end users” of the programs being discussed yet are significantly underrepresented.

One of the benefits of being a Chamber member is we represent YOU in these discussions. But that’s not always enough. We also invite you to join us as we need more voices to influence the growing opportunity for economic development in our region.

May you be well!
