Windsor's Windy Kite Festival

Saturday, August 2nd

The DeForest Windsor Area Chamber and Village of Windsor are excited to present our 4th Annual Kite Festival on Saturday, August 2nd at the Windsor Sports Commons from 10am to 3pm!

The Wisconsin Kiters will be back to share their amazing displays of beautiful giant show kites, precision stunt teams performing mesmerizing aerial ballet with their dual and quad line kites, spectacular and colorful ground displays and activities for kids and adults! There will be candy drops and kid's kite kits to make their own kite to fly!

Stop out and bring the family to enjoy the show, support Norski Soccer Concessions, Frios Gourmet Pops, make and fly a homemade kite!

DeForest – Windsor Small Business Grant Program Now Open!

Calling small businesses in DeForest and Windsor! Applications are now open for the new Small Business Grant Program. Whether you're upgrading your storefront, building out a new space, or making systems improvements this program can help you access capital to move your business forward.

This joint program is run by the Community Development Authorities (CDAs) of each community. CDA’s primarily focus on redevelopment areas within their municipality, so the program prioritizes businesses within specific geographic areas. Check the program map and guidelines to help determine your eligibility.

Grants up to $50,000 available!

First round of applications are due by July 21. The full program schedule is on the web page. This is a competitive program so take your time with your application!

Join the Friends of the Yahara River Headwaters Board!

The Friends of the Yahara River Headwaters is seeking new board members to help guide and grow our efforts in protecting and enhancing this vital local resource.

Our Mission:

We focus on water monitoring, fishing clinics, river clean-ups, educational events, and promoting and maintaining a navigable water trail. Through these programs, we work to foster a healthy, vibrant river system for both people and wildlife.

Why Join the Board?

As a board member, you’ll:

Help shape the direction of our conservation and outreach work

Collaborate with passionate, like-minded individuals

Gain hands-on experience in environmental stewardship and community engagement

Make a meaningful impact on the future of the Yahara River

Help organize fun outdoor events like paddle outings, bird walks, and nature hikes

This is not a significant time commitment—we welcome community members with busy schedules who still want to make a difference.

We encourage individuals from all backgrounds who care about clean water, community involvement, and outdoor recreation. Experience in education, fundraising, event planning, or environmental science is helpful but not required.

The awards ceremony honors innovation across all industries, from agriculture and tech to nonprofits and education and more, recognizing companies of all sizes from every corner of the state. Companies do NOT have to be technology-based organizations…this is meant to celebrate all types of innovation. Finalists and winners are celebrated at the Nov. 4 awards ceremony.
