THE CHAPELINE - June 7, 2022

From Rev. Brock Patterson

"Gardening Tips"

Hello Chapel Family! Thank you for taking the time to read this week's Chapeline. It's easy to forget that taking the time to stay connected with the Chapel family is an important part of spiritual growth, both individually and as a church.

Our Chapel family is a close-knit group, genuinely concerned about each other and seeking to serve God wherever we are needed. We recognize that the needs of the people and the community are evident year-round, not just "During the season" when everyone is here. The garden has been planted and it is growing!

Why is this important to remember? Because "Church" is not a sometimes occurrence. Church is an essential part of our spiritual DNA that dwells within us, 24/7. If we forget about church, it's like planting a garden and leaving it unattended for an extended time. Weeds will eventually appear and choke out the good stuff we're seeking. Or, drought occurs, causing everything to wither. However, when we give the church the attention it deserves by nurturing and fertilizing it, it grows and produces fruit. Even if we are absent, we can still work the soil, keeping the church healthy, growing, and well-prepared for our return.

At one time or another, all of us face times when we cannot physically connect with the Chapel family. That's okay. We learned during COVID that nothing can stop God's work, even if we can't physically till the soil. God's blessings will continue, and as long as we stay connected as best we can, we will be among the witnesses to God's great work through the Chapel!

Please stay safe and healthy. Your Chapel family loves you!

God Bless, Brock.

Pearls of Wisdom from Shifting Sands:

"There's not a chapter of our story that is authorized by us. It's all written by the One who is the definition of wisdom, power, love and grace."

Paul David Tripp, author and public speaker

The Reverend Charlie Shook has recently published another book, entitled To Tell the Story.  This book is a collection of some of his favorite stories. Some come from famed authors like A.A. Milne or Mark Twain. Others are from ordinary people who have spun extraordinary tales. They are all included to take us captive and make us more human.

After the service this Sunday, Reverend Shook will be available for the second and final time with signed copies of his book for purchase.
