THE CHAPELINE - June 14, 2022 | |
From Rev. Brock Patterson
"Monte Saved the Day"
When was the last time you locked yourself out of a car, office, or home? Have you ever lost your keys or accidentally locked them on the inside while you were still outside?
It has happened to me a few times. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about it. Locking myself out of something throws me into a sense of panic and fear. As a result, I check and double-check to make sure I have my keys before I close the door, but still, every once in a while I'm forced to call a locksmith.
In fact, in my last church, I locked myself out so many times that the locksmith's number was programmed on my phone. His name was Monte. I would sit outside and wait for his truck. When I would finally see his vehicle turn into the parking lot, I would take a deep breath of relief. Yeah, Monte was invaluable. He helped me at church and he helped me at home. I relied on Monte so much that I became even more careless than before, locking myself out more and more. Monte was always there to save the day.
Do you have a Monte? Do you have someone who is always there when you need a helping hand? Have you told them lately how thankful you are for their listening ear, gentle spirit, and generous touch? Since this Sunday is Father's Day, this might be a good time to thank "The Monte" in your life. Whether your Monte is a neighbor, friend, or family member, give them some appreciation this week. Not only does it give them an incentive to keep helping, but it also lets them know that they are noticed, valued, and appreciated.
Give your Monte a little bit of love this week!
God Bless. Brock.

Shifting Sands
Shifting Sands will not meet this Thursday,
June 16th!!
Next meeting June 23 at the Chapel at
10:00am in the Ruth Cushing Room.
Pearls of Wisdom from Shifting Sands:
"There is no courage without vulnerability. Courage requires the willingness to lean into uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure. It takes a lot of courage to show up and be all in when we can't control the outcome. Vulnerability is not oversharing, it's sharing with people who have earned the right to hear our stories and experiences. Vulnerability is not weakness: it's our greatest measure of courage."
― Brene Brown, Atlas of the Heart
