SEPTIC SYSTEM PUMP-OUTS AT HALF-PRICE

LOWER CHATEAUGAY LAKE  

SHOREOWNERS ELIGIBLE

 FOR COST-SHARING PROGRAM

 

Homeowners with structures within 500 feet of Lower Chateaugay Lake who have an attached septic system are eligible for a 50 percent savings in the cost to have their system pumped out. The Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District is offering the program to homeowners near selected water bodies throughout Franklin County to encourage septic system inspections and maintenance.  The District will pay half of the cost of the $300 pump-out rate and participating homeowners must pay the other $150. Failing septic systems can have detrimental effects on the quality of water in any lake, both as a source of nutrients leading to excessive weed growth, and fecal bacteria.

       

The program timeframe is July 30th to October 1st.   However, the cost-sharing program is limited to 150 homeowners so don't wait to apply.

Report Speeding on the Lake

 

If you have concerns regarding speeding or violations on the lake please call the Sheriff's department at (518)565-4300.  The more calls that they receive the more they will be aware of any safety issues on the lake.  We all want our lake to continue to be a safe place to enjoy! 

 

 

Welcome New Board Members 

 

The Chateaugay Lakes Association would like to welcome Joanne Hannon and Christine LaDuke to the Board of Directors.  At our next meeting on August 25th we will be forming our committees for the upcoming year.  The committees include lakes conservation, membership, communications, and recreation. Volunteers are also always needed and welcome with any of the committees as well as our annual summer activities.

You're invited to the Rally for the Lake set for Saturday, August 18th.

This is a fun new event to celebrate Chateaugay Lake and raise funds for Eurasian water milfoil control. The Rally includes a 5K run and 1 mile fun walk, followed by a cook-out and swim on the grounds of historic Camp Jeanne d'Arc.

Art Show at Deerspring Lodge

The gallery is open from July 1 to Labor Day whenever the frog flag is flying.

Chateaugay Lake Foundation's Annual Baked Chicken Dinner is Saturday August 4th at the Lyon Mountain American Legion.    

  

Chateaugay Lakes Water Level Control District Board Meeting

August 11th at 10am at the Bellmont Town Offices, Public Welcome. 

 

Chateaugay Lakes Farmers' Market begins this Saturdays at the Hollywood Inn from 10am until 2pm. 2012 marks the fifteenth season for this market; come and enjoy what the North Country has to offer!

  

Ladies of the Canyon, August 25th at the Chateaugay Town Theater at 7pm.  Tickets can be purchased at Wendy's Quick Stop, IBC in Malone, Dick's Country Store, Studley Printing and Publishing in Plattsburgh or online at  www.themusicoasis.com .

The Chateaugay Lakes Association is in the process of changing websites to chateaugaylake.mylaketown.com, we are currently adding our information to the site and it will be available soon.  Also, "Like" us on Facebook and stay up to date with current meetings and activities.

Board Meetings
 
The next Board Meeting is Saturday August 25th at 9:30am at the Bellmont Town Offices.  All are welcome to attend.  The Board of Directors generally meets the second Saturday of every month from April through October at the Bellmont Town Offices.
