Worship Remains in Sanctuary this Week
After service, there will be a Reception on the Front Lawn (weather permitting) beginning at 11:30!
This is a special week! It's Youth Sunday, Trinity Sunday, and we have a baptism!
The scriptures this week will be Psalm 13, Matthew 11:28-30, Psalm 34:17-18, Isaiah 35:1-8a, and Romans 5:1-5.
The kids will offer their reflections on finding hope and creativity during COVID-19.
Ushers this week are Janet Takeyama and Fred Mailey.
Artwork by Christopher Moyer.
Today in their reflections, the kids are presenting how they found hope and creativity during the COVID 19 challenges. Christopher created the artwork seen on today’s bulletin and Samuel will present a cello improvisation on the emotions of “Broken, Angry, and Renewed.” Ivy will share her talents at the piano during the offertory and will join Marley to present an improvised dance they created. All the ideas and images were chosen by the youth, and with Dr. Jenny Conner’s guidance they created the slides you will see today.

Dancing with the Giants of Peace Volunteers Needed for THIS Saturday
Who are the following people and what do they share in common: Bertha Von Suttner,
Mahatma Gandhi, Elizabeth Williams, Mairead Corrigan, Desmond Tutu, Elie Wiesel and the 14th Dalai Lama?
These are just some the world’s peacemakers that will be on display at the Covenant’s tent celebrating the Giants of Peace as part of UCI’s Dancing with Giants Arts Festival, June 11th in Wade oval. Come by and learn about some of the peacemakers you know and some you may not know yet. Make a dance wand of peace, a bell bookmark and offer your own peace prayer on our prayer wall.
Are you able to help out at the booth? We are looking for volunteers to work 2-hour shifts to help with set up beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending with clean-up at 6 p.m. Contact Barb Clint by email to indicate your volunteer availability, bclint5132@gmail.com. Thanks so much in advance! Ministry of Service

Youth Sunday is This Week!
At the end of the service THIS SUNDAY, the children will each receive a blank journal to continue their thoughts. We invite you to bring your favorite biblical scripture to church that Sunday and to share this by writing in their journals during coffee hour. (Example: I read John 3:16 whenever I want to remember the great gift that God gave to us) We will have the journals available to write in for the following weeks after June 12. Thank you for your prayers and support as the children continue to grow in God's love and strength.

Planning for Restart of Covenant’s Community Meals Program Continues
The Church of the Covenant has been graced by extremely generous donors since its founding and this tradition of generosity certainly extended to the community meals programs which our church had hosted on Thursday evenings for many years. Covenant’s first community meals program was launched and funded by Bobbi and Jim Lister in the early 1980’s as “Simple Suppers” consisting of soup, salad, bread, and a bit of dessert. Their crew soon grew to include Jean Sacatcsh, Wini Buford, and Jules Tryk, each of whom assumed responsibility for a weekly meal each month, including covering much of its costs. Special meals like St. Patrick’s Day and our Thanksgiving meal, held back then ON Thanksgiving, were partially reimbursed from free will offerings. At their peak, these meals attracted over 60 persons each week, from church families to choir members to people from within the community. As the health and life circumstances of the initial crew changed, our Deacons assumed responsibility for these meals in the early 1990’s and Chuck Langmack stepped up and carried the program into the future, engaging community volunteers and perfecting the system in the process.
In the shadow of these prominent church members past and present, the Ministry of Service is proud to launch the “Chuck Wagon” Community Meals program both in tribute to Chuck Langmack and with deep gratitude to the Listers and to Jean, Wini and Jules who welcomed our members and neighbors with a meal and hospitality each week for nearly two decades. Our community meals relaunch is starting modestly as a last Thursday of the month meal on June 30, July 28, and August 25 from 5:30 to 7. We will assess both capacity and demand over the summer to determine our course going forward in the fall. Please mark these dates on your calendar and stop in for a meal and fellowship with our neighbors if you can. If you feel like helping out, please contact Ministry of Service Moderator Barb Clint at bclint5132@gmail.com.
