Pray for those affected by gun violence
Since a gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School on  December 14, 2012, killing 26 people, 20 of them children; 983 people in Cuyahoga County have been killed by guns. Since last month, 17 more individuals have died by gun violence in Cuyahoga County. The names of those at least 18 years of age are: Julius Orosz, Robert Irving, William Frederick Johnson, Michael A. Giera, Natasha K. Gunderman, Jonathan Hogan Legg, Gregory A. Hummel, Andrew J. Osowski, Aclee Dudley Jr., Harold Spurgeon Emery Jr., Luther E. Moore, Michael Anthony Unger, Isaac Darnell Carson Jr., Steven Ray Heading, and Radosav Lazovic. Seven of those who died were by suicide and two were under the age of eighteen, including a nine year old girl.  Believing God calls us to be peacemakers, by Session action, we include in the Prayer of Thanksgiving, Intercession and Petition, once each month, specific concern for people affected by gun violence and addressing the evil of gun violence in our nation, marked by the tolling of the tower bell. Join us, in this time of increased concern over deadly gun violence in our county, our country, and the world, in remembering and praying that God will show us the way to a new commitment to Peace on Earth.  The Church of the Covenant partners with God Before Guns, a multi-faith coalition of individuals and faith communities created in the wake of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, to reduce gun violence. Go to  godbeforeguns.org  to see how to become engaged

Bear one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. ~Galatians 6:2
Church Happenings

Meditation for World Peace: The Reiki community, led by William Rand, has begun a World Peace Meditation movement on specific dates at specific times. The idea is that people around the globe will be praying/meditating/sending Reiki for world peace in their own time zones, creating a wave of energy that will gain intensity as it circles the globe for 24 hours. The Covenant Healing Circle invites you to meet in the sanctuary on Wednesday, July 11 at 7:30 p.m. to do that in community. If this is not convenient, please pray for peace at home for about 15 minutes sometime between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., knowing that others are praying with you. Specific prayers for world peace will be available at the church that evening, and are available online, for those wanting resources .

Mark your calendars for  Friday, September 7, 2018 when we will officially celebrate the unveiling of University Circle's newest hidden gem at the Church of the Covenant: t he Dowd Commons! Details to follow.
