Are you interested in becoming a tutor and volunteering for our community?

Becoming an English Language Learning (ELL) tutor is a great way to make friends and give back. The Largo Public Library is holding the next ELL Tutor Orientation & Training on Saturday, October 28 at 10am in the Library Jenkins Wing. Lunch is included. Registration is required as well as an online application.

10 Tampa Bay recently hosted their 5-6:30pm newscasts live from Largo Central Park where they featured the park as well as other City of Largo highlights during an interview with Mayor Woody Brown. GROUNDBREAKING OF EVEREST LARGO

The City of Largo is thrilled to have recently celebrated the groundbreaking of Everest Largo, a new 90-unit multifamily complex in Downtown Largo. Mayor Woody Brown and City Commissioners joined developers, local contractors, and City team members to participate in this special occasion. Everest Largo is located on the 3-acre vacant site at 614 Woodrow Avenue that will feature one and two-bedroom units, with 20 percent of the units dedicated to affordable housing. HOUSING FOR ALL VIRTUAL WORKSHOP

Discover the City's Housing for All initiative, aimed at broadening housing choices to cater to the needs of both current and future Largo residents. The City, in collaboration with its consultants, will be conducting a virtual workshop on Wednesday, October 25 at 6pm. During this workshop, participants will:


  • Receive an overview of the community feedback collected from the previous "Housing for All" workshop held in July, as well as insights gathered from the online community survey.
  • Gain insights into the housing analysis report, shedding light on the housing landscape in Largo.
  • Have the opportunity to explore and provide input on model concept designs for "Missing Middle" housing, a critical aspect of expanding housing options.


This virtual workshop serves as an important platform for community engagement and input in shaping the City's housing strategies. Your participation and feedback are greatly valued as we work towards enhancing housing accessibility in Largo.

FALL LARGO LIVE! KICKS OFF THIS OCTOBER

Join the City of Largo for this free community event with live entertainment, displays from City Departments, games from the Play Express, and more from 6-8pm. Don’t forget your blanket or chairs for an evening of meeting neighbors and enjoying an event in your neighborhood. The October Largo Live! event will be held on Friday, October 13 from 6-8pm at Ulmer Park, 301 West Bay Drive in Largo.

CLOSURE UPDATES

DATSKO PARK CLOSURE UPDATE

Datsko Park is presently closed to the public due to ongoing construction aimed at improving the parking area. These enhancements include improvements to ensure ADA compliance, repairs and maintenance of the parking lot's asphalt pavement, upgrades to concrete sidewalks, and the addition of new pavement markings in the parking lot. This temporary closure is expected to last until Friday, October 13, with plans to reopen the park on Saturday, October 14, barring any unexpected delays.

150TH AVE N ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE 

150th Ave N is currently closed in both directions between 58th Street N and 62nd Street N for emergency repair work. The replacement of the sanitary sewer manholes has already been finished. Presently, the repairs to the road surface are in progress and expected to be completed within the next two weeks. Once these repairs are done, 150th Ave N will reopen. Please note that after the road reopens, there will be a temporary closure to apply permanent pavement markings.


For those traveling eastbound, local traffic will not be able to proceed past the Pinellas Technical College driveway entrance. Similarly, westbound local traffic will not be able to proceed beyond the High Point Village Community entrance. Detour routes have been posted, and we kindly ask you to follow them.

Construction of Horizon West Bay which includes Largo City Hall is underway. As of October 4, 2023, work continues on the following tasks:


  • Underground Utilities Exterior
  • Parking Garage Interior Utilities
  • Parking Garage Steel
  • Erection of City Hall Steel
  • Parking Garage Fire Protection


Road closures for the duration of the project include:


  • 4th Street NW, between West Bay to 1st Ave NW
  • 5th Street NW, between West Bay to 1st Ave NW
  • 1st Avenue NW, between 4th Street to 5th Street


Largo’s new mixed-use complex, Horizon West Bay, sets a vision to attract new restaurants, cafes, and retailers to Downtown Largo.
