The ribbon cutting for Largo's first-ever painted crosswalk was held on Thursday, October 4 at the site of the colorful artwork. Mayor Woody Brown, Vice Mayor Michael Smith, Commissioner Donna Holck and board members from the North Pinellas Cultural Alliance (NPCA), who generously funded the grant project, were in attendance. Attendees enjoyed music and cookies under the tree canopy as community members wrote messages of thanks to the artist, Tiffany Beasi, in sidewalk chalk.
Project Leaders, which included, Assistant City Manager Mike Staffopoulos and Board Chair of the NPCA Linda Foley Norris thanked project participants, Library Director Casey McPhee, Assistant Library Director Geri Remming, Recreation Parks and Arts Director Joan Byrne, Communications and Marketing Manager Kate Oyer, Streets and Stormwater Manager Kim Tracy, NPCA Board Member and Largo City Commissioner Jamie Robinson, and everyone on city staff that helped the project come to fruition.
