MEETING UPDATES
2018 CITIZENS' ACADEMY
This week's session was hosted by the Public Works Department. Participants started off the session with an interactive demo of equipment and were able to climb in and operate some of the department vehicles. After viewing the vehicles, the group was able to take their class photo and get back to the bus just before the storm rolled in. This was followed by a delicious BBQ dinner made in-house and a presentation by Public Works Director, Brian Usher. He covered department services and discussed their disaster management strategies that helped the City get up and running again last year after Hurricane Irma.

Thank you to the Public Works staff for a fun hands-on session! Next week's class will be held at Environmental Services.

This is the second year LPD joined the national event. Thank you Europa Cafe, The Haus Coffee Shop and Frida's Cafe and Bakery for hosting this great conversation with our community.
