TRAKIT TRAINING WEEK
During the week of April 1-5, Community Development Department staff, along with key staff from other City departments, received on-site training in the City’s permitting and development review software (TRAKiT). TRAKiT is tailored to the customer and staff needs of local government and allows the City to track and manage permitting, inspections, land use, and development review project applications and data. This week’s training is part of an ongoing focus on improving the permitting and development review business processes within the Community Development Department.

The training is led by consultants from Central Square Technologies, the vendor and owner of TRAKiT. It focuses on best practices to maximize the use of this important tool, and diagnostics to correct problems encountered during use by staff. Modules considered during this week are: permitting, code enforcement, project and licensing. The training incorporates the ability to perform quick fixes of many of the smaller problems encountered with the daily use of the software, training of several staff as systems administrators who can then do these fixes on an ongoing basis, and finally, two days of end user training of all staff who use the software. At the end of the week, the training team will make recommendations to Community Development department staff as to how to maximize the use of the software going forward and help increase the overall efficiency of the development review and permitting processes.
