Chairman's Corner
by Jason Shepherd
After a short hiatus while I was in the United Kingdom, the Cobb GOP newsletter is back. Purely by coincidence, I happened to be in London at the same time President Donald Trump was visiting.

While I did not witness any of the protests against the President, choosing to stay as far away from Parliament Square as I could, the local news was filled with stores about angry protesters doing their best to act like "Brown Shirts" all the while claiming to be protesting "fascist" Donald Trump.

A small group of pro-Trump supporters ventured into protests, and had to be quickly surrounded by London police for their own safety. While only numbering a few dozen, the "tolerant" and "peaceful" mob group of protesters decided to physically attack the smaller group. At one point, police barricaded a group of pro-Trump demonstrators inside a Wetherspoons pub after they were surrounded by protesters.
A friend who works for Parliament took the above photo showing the police (in yellow) having to protect the pro-Trump supporters (in red MAGA hats).

There was a place where Trump supporters could congregate in London, and that was at the Jameson Pub which the owner, Damien Smyth renamed the "Trump Arms" for the duration of the President's visit .

I got the opportunity to briefly interview Smyth and his sister on video , both from Ireland, and who are huge fans of the President and what he's doing to Make and America Great!

I wish that the left's vitriol was only contained to the Euro-socialists, but even on our own Facebook page, Matthew Hurley, a Georgia Democrat who liked to troll our page, made a comment under the notice of the Georgia Teenage Republican (TARs) State Convention suggesting our conservative teenagers were "Hitler Youth."
While Matthew Hurley's attempt to link a pro-freedom, pro-small government youth organization to a Fascist organization, ironically, if he had only read the Wikipedia entry , the description hardly sounds like today's Republican youth, or any conservative organization. Instead, it seems to describe those who went after the pro-Trump supporters on the streets of London:

"The Hitler Youth were used to break up Church youth groups, and in anti-Church indoctrination, used to spy on religious classes and Bible studies, and interfere with church attendance. Education and training programs for the Hitler Youth were designed to undermine the values of the traditional elitist structures of German society along with their privileges; their training also aimed at an obliteration of social and intellectual distinctions between the classes, so as to be replaced and dominated by the political goals of Hitler's totalitarian dictatorship. Besides promoting a doctrine of classlessness, additional training was provided that linked state-identified enemies such as Jews with Germany's previous defeat in the  First World War , and societal decline."

  • Which side would spy on religious organizations and break up church youth groups?
  • Which side would promote a doctrine of classlessness?
  • Which side would go after and undermine traditional structures of society branding them as "elitist"?

Hurley has been banned from posting on the Cobb GOP page.

It goes to show what we are fighting against to uphold our conservative principles and values , not just across the Pond, but across the county, and the stakes we are facing in 2020 if Donald Trump and David Perdue do no win.

So what can you do?

  1. If you haven't already, first make a $5, $10, or $20 donation to Cobb County GOP.
  2. Let us know if you can be a volunteer for get out the vote efforts.
  3. Join or renew your membership in the Cobb GOP and recruit at least 5 new members.

All that stands between them and power is us.

Yours in Freedom,
null
