News from Codes for Climate
After launching the Codes for Climate initiative in June 2021, the NBI and RMI team convened state and local government stakeholders to help identify the key principles of climate-aligned codes, and provide feedback on draft amendments for the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). Using this feedback, the NBI team developed and submitted more than 50 code change proposals to the 2024 IECC, with proponents from state and local government signing on to support many of these.

Looking Ahead

In 2022, we will build on our collective efforts to further climate-aligned code adoption and implementation. We will continue to support and contribute to the IECC and ASHRAE development processes while also working with state and local jurisdictions on stretch codes to move further toward zero carbon new construction. We will ensure that our work is additive by partnering with other organizations and working with the federal government and national labs.

This is our last newsletter of 2021, and we hope you enjoy a restful holiday season in preparation for the work ahead in the new year. To track our work in 2022 please visit the Codes for Climate website. And in the meantime, feel free to email us.
