New PATCH Program Addresses Housing Repair Needs
With many homes still too damaged to be habitable, housing has been identified as one of the most pressing needs following the August 10 derecho. A new program called Providing Assistance to Community Homeowners (PATCH) has been created to help homeowners repair homes or make them livable for the winter months.

When Tommy Rhomberg used derecho debris to make a baseball bat for his friend, he was just trying to give his teammate a memorable birthday gift. But when dozens of people wanted bats of their own, Tommy saw an opportunity to raise money for the Community Foundation’s Disaster Recovery Fund.

Endow Iowa Tax Credit Update
Through the Endow Iowa Tax Credit program, gifts to qualified funds at the Community Foundation are eligible for a 25% state tax credit. The Iowa Economic Development Authority recently announced that approximately $1.85 million remains available for 2021. We want to encourage all donors who wish to qualify to make their gifts as soon as possible.
